Re: pic: Team 25's Latest Machine
Very cool you guys, I really like the wheels. No ones gonna push you
around this year. One question: Is that groove at the end your tetra manipulator? If so, please elaborate on how it works Good luck! |
Re: pic: Team 25's Latest Machine
Wow, that is one hot bot. Drive train looks very similar to that of 2003. And if it is.... I pity the fool.... Congrats on a bot well done.

Re: pic: Team 25's Latest Machine
Very nice, I like it lots. Tell me about your arm and gripper. It looks like there is much more than meets the eye.

there really isnt more than what you see, its a 3 segment pully driven mast ( similar to the design of our 2000 robot)with a shoulder joint similar to our 2004 robot the Van Door motor control the spindle of the mast and the Nippon Desno Motor controls the shoulder Keep the qustions commin |

Re: pic: Team 25's Latest Machine
That is just awesome, I cant wait to see it on the field., what is the final weight?
|
Re: pic: Team 25's Latest Machine
suhweeeet.....but does the front arm run into the extrusion when it extends forward, or how does that work cause you can extend forward 40 degrees?

Drive train is similar but only stronger and of similar speed (see other pics from last week). The drive train is modular and the transmission weighs about 1/4 lb. It flies. When FIRST gave us 4 CIMs this year it was like a dream come true. We had it all worked out to run with Fisher Price motors as the second set (our guys design and prototype all year to improve our previous designs). The 4 CIMs made the alignment of the RPMs and such ideal. Today we get all the sensors in and up and running. Also some last minute wiring and programming. At last weight we were 2-3 lbs under and we may look to add some weight to bring it up to 120. Our school is off today and Monday so we have the next 4 days to train and program. We've never had such time. Anyway- off to the school to get back to work. WC  |

We tried loading the arm and extending full up and out to see if it would tip if we shoved it. It didn't budge, even when inclined forward over 40 degrees. We also find we can lift and cap at least 2 stacked tetras at a time if we want- from the floor if necessary. And Corey our driver handles it like a pro. WC |
Re: pic: Team 25's Latest Machine
Yup can't wait to see you in the heat of competition!
Too bad I'm not able to drive this year ;) So who can push who? Can you push us or can we push you? That yet remains to be answered... :ahh: |
Re: pic: Team 25's Latest Machine
This is one of those machines I can't wait to see at Palmetto.
(writes down on list) |
Re: pic: Team 25's Latest Machine
wow... great job guys. like leicht asked, does this cute thing have a name yet? how is autonomous looking for you guys? (i will fear you even more if you guys can place the tetras during autonomous mode) looks like 25 is going for the title this year and it doesn't look like they are planning on holding back at all...
GO 1403!!! |
Re: pic: Team 25's Latest Machine
what would you think would be a good name
|
Re: pic: Team 25's Latest Machine
Once again...you guys have set the benchmark....I am excited that you are headed to Palmetto...we are planning a good regional...great field...hope to have a chance to play with again...just as we did in 2003 Nationals.

Re: pic: Team 25's Latest Machine
A few more updates on what we can do:
Top speed is 14.4 FPS Pushed(what our engineers said to be) an 800 pound table Lifts up to 14 feet Can lift 2/3 tetras at once Drivers are insane, not crazy Can stack about 12 on the center goal 8-10 Second load/cap time and after vigorous testing, it seems that the easiet way to tip it, would be to physically lift it and throw it down. And any name suggestions would be greatly appreciated. :D |

I really hope we are in the same division at Nationals..
Corey seems to think your robot can push us, or some nonsense like that ;) |

I'd be more impressed if you mentioned the coefficient of friction of the table feet, and of the surface it rests on. I bet my robot can tow a truck (in neutral) ;) John (at least you didn't say: "we pushed the biggest kid on the team around!") |
