Felipe Reis answered your question clearly. What don't you understand? If you need help on using video post, search 3dsmax's help files or come back here with a specific question.

Re: AVI,MOV files?

Yes you can submit AVI, with either Cinepack compression or uncompressed compression. There is no substitue compression, such as DivX or Xvid or Indeo, which will result in a DQ.

Could you please show me where it says I can submit an AVI? In the rules it states this:
Acceptable file formats: QuickTime (.MOV)
I interpret that as meaning only quicktime and no AVI.

Re: AVI,MOV files?

Autodesk will accept AVI files - as long as they were created using the codecs listed in the rules (Cinepak or DV-NTSC).

They prefer .MOVs but if you send an AVI they'll to convert it to a .MOV. That's more work for them and the conversion might degrade the quality slightly.

A guaranteed way to be disqualified is to send a non-standard AVI (Like Divx).
