Batteries and hard impacts
Today we were taking our crate and robot to a local recycling center to get an accurate weight measurement. We had the crate in one truck, and the bot in another. We had 2 batteries in the crate, so we could see how close we would be to the 400 lb limit. Well on the way there, a gust of wind managed to knock the crate out of the back of the truck.
I would think it would be safe to say the batteries suffered a pretty hard impact. As of now we are pretty much writing them off as wrecked, I figure the impact probably wrecked the lead plates. Would anyone think otherwise? Or how might we go about testing them? Just hook them up to a CIM or two and see how long they will run for? We have spare cims from 2 years previous. It isn't a really big deal we still have 4 other batteries, and these two batteries were old ones, our new ones are still sitting in their box, in the crates from the kickoff. Thanks for your advice |
Re: Batteries and hard impacts
in this thread (http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...ad.php?t=34054) we explained how we tested our batteries to find out which was best, I imagine you could do a similar test to see if the batteries work up to par or not. :)
