Re: Have you named your robot?

Our robots name is CRICK or Francis Crick, Our team name is WATSON so our theme is DNA WATSON & Crick were the people that discovered DNA. Our motto fits in with that Defying New Altitudes or Discovering New Accomplishments. We also thought it would be good to have our robot named in honor of Francis Crick's Death this past year.

Our team, 399, named our robot Mr. Clean. We named it after one of our students, his nickname is mr clean, that was diagnosed with leukemia last summer and got a bone marrow transplant. So it was kind of something for him.

We opened up the naming of the robot to the student body. I had the students submit entries and what not. After a while, the team took all the entries and decided on one. ALICE. I think it has something to do with Alice in Wonderland. They also decided to call the team, THE LOOSE NUTS. :)

Re: Have you named your robot?

I'm not sure if this is official yet, but one day I opened my big, Latin student mouth and suggested that we name our robot Apollo, because he's the Roman/Greek god of science and the arts, and Holland High, we're a pretty artsy school, so I thought it was a good reflection of the school. Unfortunately, one of the sponsoring teachers took me too seriously and said that when Apollo #13 was built we'd name it Apollo 13. :ahh::eek:
Not what I had originally intended. :(

At West Ottawa in Holland, Michigan it's impossible to get my team to agree to a name other than Wo-Bot *sweatdrop* But I give it a cool name every year ^.^ I'm the only one who uses it though... :)

Yeah...PROTEGE2 (Yep, it's supposed to be all capitals; it's an acronym.). But some people don't like the lack of originality (myself included). Here's the great debate at our website: http://railerobotics.proboards42.com...m=1105983 141
