Israeli websites are not to be judged

I would like to tell you about something that really annoyed me.
last night, at 12 am and something, our mentor and chairman of FIRST Israel, told me he recieved an Email saying that all of the 12 Israeli teams websites shall not be included in the Website competition.
as a webmaster i feel very disappointed, since i have worked hard & long hours for the past month on our team's website. i have written in pure HTML code, and designed the graphics myself with Photoshop and The GIMP, and not just any generated PHP Nuke (or so) website, to prove my skills.
what disturbed me even more, is that they decided not to include us in the competition, the same day of the Website registration dedline.
Does anyone know the reason for this?
Does it seem right to you?

just editing - I am told that also graphics of the robot made in Inventor shall
not be judged

Could it be there is no one to judge it? I'm not sure who actually judges it, but I'd imagine its different people for each regional. Perhaps your regional has no one?

I'm not saying its fair, its just an idea of why.

..Just a side note, last time i checked, there was only one regional in isreal. Now, that must be a terrible dissappointment for the team and webmaster too find out on the deadline that their hard work has almost gone to waste (you still have a nice functional site regardless).

The judges are selected from people who volunteer for the position using the FIRST Volunteer Information and Matching System (http://www.usfirst.org/4vol/). Website judges have to go through the same screening process as other volunteers, a procedure that was introduced this year. The judges are different for each regional, and one regional may have one or more judges.

However I didn't read that section of the rulebook, so it's quite possible I'm wrong :)

Three years ago the website award was voted on by members of each team. For the past two years (last year and this year) the website award is done by FIRST volunteers.

The reference checking procedure introduced this year applies for both regular competition judges and website award judges.

I'm sure if you posted a link to all 12 pages here on cd, and set a time for a poll, then we could all vote on it for you.

It will be an honorable mention type of thing, and be more significant, because it will be by your peers. We can even make a web award icon for the winner too.

Just a thought.
