Re: pic: SigmaC@T 2005
alright here we go...
its a BEAST :) Middle part of the robot is a cage which comes up and down. fisher price on the right bottom corner of the robot is the winch to bring it up and down. See the vandoor motor hanging down in the middle that is for the PVC arm... ... Thats all I am going to say for now. Your goal is owned :D -Arefin. <edit> yup yup... want videos? im me or jim... <edit> |
Re: pic: SigmaC@T 2005
IM me @ Specialagentjim for videos of the robot in action OR check out www.sigmacatrobotics.com (more videos going on the site soon)

Re: pic: SigmaC@T 2005
I dont see how the inside arm is suported once it is lifted up... the first time I saw the picture this is what confused me. The way it looks in the picture, there isnt any kind of track to keep it straight...unless of course my depth perception is off...is that a track or a part of the arm?
[edit] I think I now see that there is a track...lol...I think it WAS my depth perception Also, does the winch rely on gravity to be retracted or does it go both ways? Is it just me or are the KOP transmissions mounted at a slant? (not thats its necissarily bad, but I am just curious.) It's kind of hard for me to tell. Also, how well does your claw work? My team has a similar claw (no actuators involved, just a simple hook), and occasionally things get a little weird with it because we have less control over it. Other than that...looking sexy! Great job 108! Oh and another thing...where is the battery? |

Since you write essays for every single post you make... i knew this was coming. :p The supports on the outside has a track. Cage comes up and down on that track. The winch comes down because of gravity. Yes, the transmission are mounted on the side supports. The claw works great. The drivers on the team feel comfortable driving that thing around (that claw has no actuator, its a simple PVC arm and claw). The battery is sitting right on the plate of the transmission. One thing I like about SigmaC@T 2005 is, she is very modular. We can take that thing apart in less than 5 mins and put it together in 5 minutes. -Arefin. |
Re: pic: SigmaC@T 2005
love the bot - sexy indeed
q: have you run into problems when you try to remove the arm and put the tetras on the goal? |

Re: pic: SigmaC@T 2005
Sweet....
That design is one of the best designs I have seen yet. The wheeled design gives it fast maneuverability and a stable platform for the lifting of a tetra. Looks like you lost some ceiling tiles during practice :p . j/k |
Re: pic: SigmaC@T 2005
Fin,
your robot looks great! what are those...6's? rollin on dubs eh? hey good luck, and i hope it comes out better than your cad models :P! |

Re: pic: SigmaC@T 2005
Nice bot. Looks like we won't be beating you this year... There's always hope though...
We've had the same issues with PVC catching on the way out... Once you get used to the controls though its easy to stop... Good luck, see ya at UCF. :) |
Re: pic: SigmaC@T 2005
i saw the video, seems like if there were any problems with the arm before, you don't have them anymore.
and i saw the spinning, it was lovely. good job guys. |
Re: pic: SigmaC@T 2005
