There was also those guys last year who kept following my friend and I around during competitions trying to film us "hugging their mascot" By the end, we had our big, bad robotics boys pretend they were our boyfriends.....

but I did think of a possibly great line to use at a competition.

"Hi Im from team 578 - have you seen our robot?"

"no, I dont think Ive seen your teams bot yet"

"well.... could you help me look for it - it ran off somewhere and we dont know where its hiding"

I am also ashamed of my brethren, but I am not surprised. I haven't tried any pick-up lines as I am timid. Goodquotes.com has some hilarious lines though.

well, I'm a mentor, 20 years old, was on the team in highschool that i mentor on now (494), i still have girls at the competitions coming up to flirt with me, they usually think i'm a student and ask to have their pictures taken with me, i have to break their hearts every year and tell them I'm not a student, i still have a few that IM me wondering what competitions i'm going to be at :D

I've picked up a few ladies at competitions when i was in highschool, hmmm does anyone have any attractive young mentors or Coaches *wink* *wink*

whoa hold on there... how come us guys keep getting bashed in this thread? You girls do realise the only reason that there aren't more storys about how us guys have so much trouble keeping you crazy girls off our backs is because we're way to nice to go and mention any of that... :rolleyes:

bc pick-up lines are fun! in jest and all. I mean, if you're not all sleezy about it, and then laugh and introduce yourself it's all good.
I joke about it with ppl all the time, I think they are simply so creative, that you would go to such leanths to talk to a girl. Given I perfer ppl to b honest/blunt at times, pick-up lines, in my view, take some presser off, and make everything easy. But I know most ppl don't think like me, so this is all a personal statement...
I've never use pick-up lines personally, but I don't mind them when they are used on me, as long as the other person understand that when i laugh, i'm laughing with them, not at them... haha

nway, if you are at a robotics comp, you are bound to run into creative ppl, so relish in it! just be respectful!
