"Do you wanna check out my robot while I check out you"

From Keith "I'm in charge of special functions"

ive never used line on a girl @ robotics, considering how few there are actually there, and i am usually too busy picking up the robot....ahem...... but at whenever my school goes to math team competitions its a good way to burn time. When my turn rolled around i used

"are you a derivative?, cause i'd like to get under your curves!"

ok so she was quite talkative for the rest of the meet but that was about it

Well most of girls that are at the robotics comps are a bit wacky. Most of the ones that i have met have been a bit odd and i wouldnt think twice about inviting them to my hotel. Although there are some extremely good looking females at the comps. Come visit me in team #1 Pit my name is corey come give me a shout.

Well, it is nice when a guy holds open a door or something similar. In fact, chivalry would be nice to be lived again.

And on another note, i have meet some pretty decent guys at competitions. In fact I did get a pick up line which was actually really kind of cute:
"Well hello, you must be the third beautiful stooge, but by far the most beautiful one." The guy actually said it a couple of times throughtout the day. Made me feel a bit special.
We were at the Palmetto Regional and only had 3 girls from the team come. I was the only mechanical one, the other two were "S.O.A.P. Bubbles" or "S.O.A.P. girls". But, I was pulled into tattooing everyone, with on eof the other girls, Whitney. Yes, tattooing, but don't worry everyone, they are only temporary. It is now a tradition for us to go up to random people and say: "Hey, want a tattoo?" It actually I think, was taken as a pick up line a few times. Ah well, such is life. We will have plenty more for the Champsionship Event! lol

Well I don't know about the other girls, but if you don't like us the way we are, we probably won't like you either.

Facepaint Corey??

I've got some stories of guys on our team hitting on other girls. In 2004, one of our now alum had special interest in practically the entire 292 team in Chicago. In Atlanta, one of our members dropped a condom out of his wallet and jumped on it to hide it. He happened to be next to one of our louder and more humiliating team mates. Suffice it to say... he went back to the stands a little redfaced and everyone on the team new about it within the hour... including our bus driver.

Actually, your kinda right! Lol, most gals in robotics are indeed a tad wacky, but wacky isn't bad, it adds some flavor! Of course, i'm not speaking for all girls in robotics, just about girls i know or have seen...

This whole pick up line thing is strange, it seems like a lot of guys at robotics are scared of girls or something, well, not scared, but super shy! So far, I've had to blab for a while before they start talking, or maybe its just me... :D

I totally, uttererly and completely concur with that one, my friend. I have had the same thing happen to me a couple of times. Are guys scared of the girls in robotics? I mean, I understand my case, since I am on mechanical, and well, the guys on my team see me as an engineer, not female but not all guys are like that, are they?

walking back from the pits some guys just started whistling at me and my teammate, asking us to come back... that was rude
but I must say that the most successful 'pick up line' was, hey youre on chief delphi...

Re: girls: what's the lamest pickup line u've got from a guy at robotics comp?

Well, this was my first year in robotics, and wow...I was shocked at some of the lines that I heard.
One experience that happened to me at Championships was when I was just wandering around, looking at different team's robots and this guy comes up to me, and says

"Hey, so umm...my friend thinks you're hot, but he's too scared to talk to you in person...will you talk to him over this?" and hands a walkie-talkie to me.
I thought it was just the funniest thing in the world.

There were a few more pick-up lines that were used on me, just can't remember them at the moment. :(
However, I did meet this cool guy, and he didn't use any lines whatsoever, just started a regular conversation with me. And I ended up hanging out with him all three days, and we became pretty good friends.

I love how you can meet all kinds of new people just walking around, its so much fun. :D

I actually don't know if someone already mentioned this (this isn't my story: Im a guy but I watched it happen)

At the Nationals one guy and one girl were giving out free hugs. My friend and I both get hugs and my friend said to the girl: "if you give me a hug for free, what will you do if I gave you a dollar?" It was the single funniest thing I've heard all competition.

Re: girls: what's the lamest pickup line u've got from a guy at robotics comp?

Me: is your team going to the party?
Guy: I don't know...they haven't decided yet. Where is it?
Me: Um...Centennial Park
Guy: Well...umm...
Me: What?
Guy: canihaveyourphonenumbersoicancallyouifwego?
Me: Huh?
Guy: can...ummm...i..umm...have your phone number?
Me: Sure! (I was almost laughing at this point)
Guy: Umm...thanks...umm...I have to go back to my pit...umm...bye...

It was adorable...he was incredibly sweet about it. But then I found out he was an eighth grader ( :yikes:  ) and hes called me about a million times. *sigh* oh well at least hes not a creepy stalker...just a nice stalker...if that makes any sense at all...hmmm...
