It might have been mentioned earlier in the thread, but during the finals a year or so ago, we turned our pit into a battery station for our alliance. We basically filled it with chargers and batteries from our three teams, as we were the closest to the entrance. One of the teams on our alliance was Castelleja, an all girls school.

Anywhoo, the guy manning the battery station ended up putting a sticky note with his email under one of the batteries before giving it back to Castelleja. Apparently he never got anything...:(

My girlfriend of ten months as of January 10th 2008 wanted me to post how I picked her up. We were on our way home to Greenwood(Indiana) from our regional in Milwaukee(Wisconsin) a five hour drive. She is sitting behind me on the minibus. I took out a sheet of paper and wrote on it (in sharpie),"Do you have a boyfriend". She replies, "No, why". I reply "Just wondering. Do you want one?". She replies, "Maybe". Now any guy at this point knows I'm in dangerous territory. This could easily go either way, at least thats what I thought. She has since told me that there pretty much wasn't any way that she would have gone out with me after that because she thought it was the cutest thing ever. She also told me that she initially thought about replying to me asking if she wanted a boyfriend by saying, "Why, got one in your pocket". As I said before we have been dating for nearly ten months now and I couldn't be happier.

I'd just like to say good luck to those Robotics guys out there (and I know they exist) who wonder if they'll ever find a girlfriend.

OK, I just have to ask. Any girls out there been hit on by an older guy at a FIRST competition? I mean like, much older. Clearly, definitely, older, like there's no way that he could have mistaken you to be his age.

I was volunteering at an FLL regional and was running the teams to their presentation. There was this team of a bunch of like 6 year old little boys and one little girl. The team was definitely father-run, but the kids were little so what can you do. One of them grabs one of the kids, puts it on his lap, and then winks at me. I was like, O.K. that's cool, that could mean anything, he could just be one of those guys that winks at people. Well we started walking to the presentation area. He comes up and starts talking to me, and asking me all of these questions, like how old am I and stuff. We got there and I had to stand there and wait with them until their judges were ready. It seemed like forever. Eventually all of other dads came over too and were interested in FRC, so I got to explain that for a while, and then I booked out of there as soon as I could to get the next team. He winked at me as I turned to walk away. I passed him in the hall again later and he winked again and tried to start talking to me again. I think I murmered some excuse and made it look like I had something official to go do. I'm pretty shy, and I only flirt with people that I really know, if at all (weird, I know), so that was all really awkward and creepy for me.

ive personally known a few girls before hand from a bunch of different teams , ive gotten the number on the back of a button thing before ( very cool btw )

Wow this is actually a really funny thread..

and unfortunately i must admit i have tried a few lines or 2 on some girls at competition when i was in high school (whether it was at competition or in our hotel... meaning they stayed at the same place as us)

but i've long stopped doing that now...

We were at a Texas only robotics competition (BEST Robotics) in the pit and anna (girl on my team) was hack sawing some aluminum and some random kid came up and said "If you were in leather and had a whip, you would be my kind of girl" and walked away. I was like Holy Crap! He did not just say that!?!? :ahh: Now she is known as anna with the whip... :D

Someone left me a heart shaped box of chocolate and a note with creepy stalker song lyrics taped to the inside of the door when I came to robotics today. It wasn't there when security locked the doors at 11 last night. We still don't know who it is and everyone on the team denies putting it there.

I'm scared.

(on topic, I have never received nor given a pickup line at competition, I...prefer to check out the robots >.>)

pickup lines are pointless if you have to use one it just shows how you cannot come up with ur own "stuff",just be urself and just have fun at the comps:cool:

I dont know if anyone could think this is a pick up but I asked someone where they where in the rankings
