Anyone who thinks computers are closing in on the human mind in terms of power, should read this, then try it in a text recognition programm.

I read a linguistics paper that went farther and analyzed human reading even more. It was extremely interesting.
You know WHY READING ALL CAPS IS SLOWER THAN READING NON-ALL-CAPS? Because your eye looks at the word shape (like "word" has three small letters, and one tall one) and lots of other things while reading to understand stuff. I'll look for the paper later, and post if i find it.
Also, your eye/brain doesn't read everything. Letters (as well as words) are constantly skipped, and you interpolate what you skipped. TO see what I mean, read the above post slowly, and then speed-read it. You'll see you'll have an easier time speed-reading it because you are skipping so many letters anyways.

Funny - apparently the words can be spelled wrong, and you can still read them without a problem! :p

rdgnieg = regding = reading
rscheearch = researchch = research

This was on Slashdot months ago and I do believe there was a thread about it back then. There's probably lots of good (and bad) info in the comments in the Slashdot post.

My favorite chapters so far have been the ones on Learning and Memory, but I read ahead and Cognition, Language, and Inteligence and Personality look pretty interesting too. And Sensation and Perception was fun. And the chapter on sleep was rather interesting as well. Did you know that you're paralyzed when you dream, and that usually if you dream you're falling you wake up? It probably depends somewhat on the teacher/professor you have but it really is an interesting class.
