Trading Card
In proper CircuitRunners fashion, here is this years trading card design for anyone to use and customize for themselves. This is the thrid year for the cards and its use has grown bigger every year. I hope your team can participate.
You can get the PSD files here. http://www.circuitrunners.com/files/Tradingcard2005.zip |
Re: Trading Card
I don't know if it's just my computer but the only parts of this that I am able to view are the Read-Me and the images...

Re: Trading Card
Same goes for me.

Re: Trading Card
All the files contained within the ZIP file are working just fine for me.
The *.psd files are Adobe Photoshop files and you will need either Adobe Photoshop or some other program that can view that file. As for everything else it works for me. To view the *.html files correctly you have to unzip the contents of that ZIP file to a seperate folder then open the *.html files. |
Re: Trading Card
Wow, that looks good. I don't suppose you'd do those for other teams. Anyway, nice work. :D

Re: Trading Card
Yes, our hope is that your team will take the card and customize it. Then hand them out at the competitions.

Re: Trading Card
i've already started making our cards... they dont exactly follow the format given though... ;) i'm sure you'll all live. they match this year's t-shirt design (for our team) and they'll look a lot more professional than last year's. and as an added bonus, i'll be sure to spell things correctly this time too... lol
keep an eye out for them at UCF, Denver, and Nationals! |
Re: Trading Card
what we have done is created the template for you. Change the items as discribed in the read me then save. I would recommend you take them to a local print shop we use alphagraphics and they will print and cut them. We are having 4000 cards made this year for $580. This is cheap when we tried it ourselves by the time you printed that many we went through 3 color laser toners at $225 each and the time to cut. The printer is the best deal.
If you are interested we might be able to take you file to our printer if needed but shipping in time will be the issue the printer takes 4 days to produce the cards. |
Re: Trading Card
Do you laminate your trading cards? What kind of paper is used?
Do very many teams bring trading cards? Are they traded like the buttons are? Is anyone from the Great Lakes Regional bringing cards to trade? |
Re: Trading Card
I remembered those trading cards from 1002. They were actually I think the only team who had trading cards. I thought the trading cards were neat.
|
Re: Trading Card
We do laminate them. I believe we use some paper similar to cardstock... but I'm not sure about that. Not all that many teams do it yet... but we weren't the only ones last year. The cards are traded/given out similar to buttons. As wheeler (our mentor) said, we are getting 4000 done for a very reasonable price. You can approach any local printing store and ask them for some kind of sponsorship, free or reduced price printing.

Re: Trading Card
How do you print them to make several come out on a page?
We finished editting the front and will finish the back tomorrow. Do the fronts and backs line up well? Thanks for the help. Carolyn |
Re: Trading Card
In the zip folder is an html file. If you saved the photoshop images as .jpg files the html file will print 8 per page and they are set up to print out so that they will line up we sometime had about a mm of difference which we decided was ok.

Re: Trading Card
Thanks for the help.
I will have my student try it tomorrow. |
Re: Trading Card
We would like to thank the CircuitRunners for the template for making trading cards. We just competed in the Great lakes Regional (where we made it to the quarter finals) and we took our cards with us. They were easy for a student to design. We had ours laminated. We told lots of teams about them and how great it would be to have more of them at regionals and finals. There were three teams at GLR with trading cards. I saw just ours and a rookie teams. We will definately have them for next year.
Thanks so much. |
