Re: pic: OOPS
yup. happens once in a while. the trick is to 'naturally' place a heavy object in front of it.

Re: pic: OOPS
wow you must of hit that hard while going full speed. i hit our Walls while going around 75% and it scratched a little.. nice job i like it!

Re: pic: OOPS
Come on guys, you're overlooking the real question...
Is the robot okay? ;) |
Re: pic: OOPS
Yes, the robot was fine, thanks for your concern, haha. As for the speed? We werent going fast at all. The robot was a foot away from the wall, and we drove backwards(thinking it was forwards) and then pow, instant hole. Lets just hope we dont do this to say, ohhh, the playingfield?

lol, or another robot :ahh: !!! |
Re: pic: OOPS
This looks like a job for duct tape! :D
...Yeah, I take that back. Nice mark though. Just look at the positive side of it, your team will get more exposure because people passing by it will know it was the robotics team that did it. Thus more will know about your team. The negative side of it, everyone will eventually know it was the robotics team that did it. |
Re: pic: OOPS
Reminds me of something that happened last year to my team, except we knocked out a suspended ceiling tile in the cafe and it broke when it hit the floor. We hit the tile squarely and didn't damage the suspended framing at all. We went looking for a custodian and found no one in the custodian's closet but we did find a stack of spare tiles in there so we grabbed one. We went back to the cafe and installed it and swept up the broken one. Looks like nothing ever happened! ;)

Re: pic: OOPS
heh, the same thing happened to us early this year, but it was drywall. it made a nice square hole after our driver "lost control" of the robot :ahh: (i wasn't there). Let's just say the janitors weren't too happy, but one of our mentors knew how to fix it, so it wasn't any problem.
|
Re: pic: OOPS
If we did that in our school hallway I think the robot would be in trouble, LOL Solid Brick Wall I don't think the janitors would be worried about a scuff mark on the brick. We would have to be running more than full speed to pull off that one. :ahh: :ahh:
|
Re: pic: OOPS
We (447) have never put a hole in a wall, but we have taken up the wax on the floor, janitors didnt like that either. Next time I will tell them, "it could be worse" :D
|
Re: pic: OOPS
Haha, thats great. We had a similar incident last year at St. Louis where our autonomous mode backfired and our robot ran full-speed into a concrete pillar  Thank heavens for steel frames; nothing happened to the bot but, as for the pillar, well, we took a bit of a chunk out :D

Re: pic: OOPS
What you should do it take a pice of paper tape it above the nifty mark and say, team1475 was here. or. team1475 may this hole remind you of your robotics team. theres my 2 cents. ;)
NIFTY HOLE!!! |
