Sony PSP, who's getting one?
So I'm wondering who's planning on getting Sony's new PSP March 24th. I've had mine reserved for about a month, I don't think you can even reservethe firts batch anymore. Anyway, there's probably a good chance that people will be able to write their own programs for it; you can see some of the reverse-engineering work already going on at www.ps2dev.org . We've jokingly suggested that we will use the PSP to drive our robot next year. It could probably be modded if you stripped the internals and added a wire to plug into the OI. But, what would be the absolute coolest thing ever, is if you could somehow build a box to use the 802.11b signal from the PSP to drive the bot, and were somehow able to wirelessly transmit the rs-232 signal from the dashboard. Then, if enough has been found on the PSP, or you can get hold of a devkit, be able to interpret the info from the dashboard port into a dashboard type program written for the PSP. That would be so much work, and most likely impossible w/o the assistance of Sony, but who else thinks that would be about the sweetest thing ever used to drive a bot?

Hey Shaver, did you and Chris get one last night/today? Man, I'd love to see one in person. :)

Re: Sony PSP, who's getting one?
I got one yesterday..its extremely nice. The screen and graphics live up to the hype. No dead pixels here either...
EDIT: Oh, and I forgot to mention. I got Tony Hawk: Underground 2 Remix and Lumines. It was really hard to part with $340 bucks, but the PSP is a beauty...Its also hard to part with the $40 and $50 dollars for a game :(. I'll be at the Las Vegas regional if anyone wants to game ad-hoc. |

Oh man, I would love to get one myself too...but, don't have the money yet. Have to save up, and spend wisely especially with college coming up. Some of my friends have it though, I'm so jealous. One of them even skipped some classes just to go get it that day, lolz.

Re: Sony PSP, who's getting one?
I'd like to have one for the flight down to Atlanta and for the long hours in the hotel (I don't sleep well at competitions) but I have to convince my wife to let me spend over $250 on a toy (not an easy task I assure you. Especially since I already have a Gameboy Advanced and a PS2).

Re: Sony PSP, who's getting one?
we happened to be over there for the release of them. I think one of our team may have got one but i am not totally sure
stuff like that is half the price to buy there than it is to buy here.... eg a typical ipod 20gb is £200 which is about $400, whereas they can be as little as $250 we found :( |
Re: Sony PSP, who's getting one?
About a third of the guys at DRHS have one. It's unreal. Everyone is sneaking them into school and playing them at lunch. They're awesome. I haven't had the chance to play one yet, but about 3 of my guy friends have one. I'm still trying to convince myself that it's good enough to work for this summer, since my parents are firm believers in "Just wait until it goes on sale". x_x Besides, i can live with my PS2 for now... Right. XD

Re: Sony PSP, who's getting one?
A couple of my friends have one, and its pretty sweet. Only thing is I dont wanna spend $250 for it, and then $40-50 a game. Especially when not many of the games so far I actually want. Think ill stick with my GBA until the prices go down and more games come out.
