Finish in Time?

I was wondering who finished their robots in time this year to drive. Our team had a finished bot as of the night before ship day, but the next morning , after a code change, it stopped working. I wondered how much time teams have had to drive their finished robot before the ship date.

we gave our drivers the few hours before shipped and while we had the programmers still awake around hours 20-24 on the last 30 hour work session...

Amazingly, we got about 6 full hours of drive and programming time this year.

We had the base driving about a week before playdate, a scrimmage in Washington D.C., but we didn't have the rest of the 'bot ready. But we had that ready the night before scrimmage. w00t to sleepovers! =D

If by driving, you mean from the time you could drive, a long time. But things cropped up and stopped our bot from driving for a while and then we had to finish our gigantic arm. We "drove" for the first time about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks ahead of time, and again about 1/2 a week later. But we didn't really get to test much with the program until the night before. By then we had an arm on the bot. That was the first real test of the bot.

we had our first test drive in the parking lot a few days before ship day it went pretty well except for the fact that the motor that lifted up the tetras wasn't strong enough :(

Turned it on and threw it in...the practice robot is for driving and programming :)

We had the drivtrain running days before ship our major hold up was the arm and pneumatics. (which work like a charm now) Programming had the bot for 2 days while we were putting the finishing touches in between runs and downloading the new code. It was hectic but it seemed to work, i guess.

Myself and another team member (RudimentaryPeni here) did all of the test driving of the robot on the ship date, so we will apparently be driving the robot at comp, we did a pretty good job smoothly operating the robot together, so there shouldn't be too many problems. We'll be doing a bit more practice with old robots, but we should be good for competition.

Re: Finish in Time?

We had it mostly done by the Saturday before ship date. The rest of the work we did was just a couple minor improvments. So we ended up with about 3 days of driveable state before we shipped. (also, we drove it the first time about two weeks after kickoff)
