Does anyone else NOT use a long arm to place a tetra on top of the Goal?

I'm just curious: All the pictures I'm seeing are of a long arm which is used to place the tetra directly on top of the goal. My team's not doing that (and unfortunatly I don't have any pictures), we are sortof pushing it over the goal so that it falls into place. See you at the Duluth competition!

They are the purple one in the center.

Team 230 has an absolutely sweet flipping mechanism. photos

Team 1559 is using an arm thats only about 36 inches long. We have an elevator type lifting mechanism. It is made specifically for the autoloading station.

Cyber Blue uses a lifting mechanism and a rather short arm to put tetras ontop of the goal. :]

A rookie team that came to our practice, 1688, was a very impressive fast little bot with a flipping mechanism that tossed the tetra into the goal.

Team 85 has a short arm and 2 loaders that work just like a candy machine! We will see you at GLR. You can see at picture in the robot showcase.

Take care

Re: Does anyone else NOT use a long arm to place a tetra on top of the Goal?

We have a tall bot with a short arm, that helps with the complexity and the weight.

we have an elevator system and then a turreting arm that can hold two tetras at a time....http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/pi...&quiet=Verbose

Re: Does anyone else NOT use a long arm to place a tetra on top of the Goal?

though we do have a very large arm, technically it is simply a lift. All of the three arms are connected via a chain linkage and reduction off of a single van-door motor. This causes the third arm/end effector to stay level with the ground at all times; perfectly and constantly in line with the front of the robot.

Ours takes tetras from the human player and with one air cylinder flips them on the goal.

Re: Does anyone else NOT use a long arm to place a tetra on top of the Goal?

We have a cool accordion kind of thing. It has an angled panel with a flap to hold the tetra on, a cylinder type attachment picks up the tetra, and puts it on the goal. =) It's funky. If you have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about, here's a picture of Moonraker.
:D

Re: Does anyone else NOT use a long arm to place a tetra on top of the Goal?

Our arm is gets the tetra about 8' feet high, so its not tall compared to most i've seen. Our claw is passive and tilts the tetra back, making it a lot easier to get high enough to cap the center tetra.

Re: Does anyone else NOT use a long arm to place a tetra on top of the Goal?

Our robot, has a 4'10" arm. But the way we grab our tetra gives us extra length. We can match all those high-capping bots except for wildstang :p

Re: Does anyone else NOT use a long arm to place a tetra on top of the Goal?

Ours is a telescoping arm that raises and lowers and then it has a finger-like projection that extends outward to put the tetras on the goals.

we use a aluminum ladder that is cut and nestes to form sort of a forklift.

Re: Does anyone else NOT use a long arm to place a tetra on top of the Goal?

Our team has a scissor lift, that can hold up to 3 tetras on top of it. We are then able to stack tetras onto a goal, by flipping them.

We (1648, Grady Gearbox Gangstaz) are using a flipper which loads three at once. WE got second today and won the rookie all star. We're going to Nationals!

Re: Does anyone else NOT use a long arm to place a tetra on top of the Goal?

team 294 is using a grabber with 3 talons that pull the tetra into cone sort of thing. then our arm is only 40 inches long with 2 segments that are 20 inches each. it is a lot like our arm last year but just smaller. so far its the only one i've seen like it.
