Incoming snow

Uh-oh... Big snow on the way...
With VCU on Wednesday! :ahh:

"Snowfall Amounts By Late Monday Will Be 5 To 9 Inches."
Hopefully Richmond gets nothing, and we only have to trek 5 hours through the snow.

TheMuffinMan 27-02-2005 16:52

Re: Incoming snow

As I live in the Greater Richmond area, we usually area part of the pocket that gets nothing :( it's depressing when every school around you is out, but your area has absolutely no snow, rain or anything falling. I think it'll be fine

Re: Incoming snow

From the look of it, it'll be tonight and tomorrow, but even then, I don't think we'll see much.

So it shouldn't be too much snow down in Virginia. However, NWS says we could get up to a foot of snow in the Philly area....*twitch*

TheMuffinMan 27-02-2005 16:57

Re: Incoming snow

Also would like to make note, in Virginia, whenever they call for massive amounts of snow (ie 5+ inches) we never get it

Example was back like 2-3 years they had a 100% guarentee of like 3 gajillion feet of snow, and we got 100% nothing :yikes:

Re: Incoming snow

In the Rochester area we've had some of our worst storms in the first week of March and I was afraid that this would happen because not only is the storm a problem but the lake effect machine gets activated for days by the storm and keeps a fresh blanket of snow on the ground. Hopefully the storm will pass by Wednesday so teams can make it up here for Thursday.

Re: Incoming snow

We got 12" last night, and are probably around 20" total for the last 24 hours. Some places (hopefully here!!) could see 2-3 more feet by Tuesday morning!! :D

----------------------------------
From NWS, for the next few days

Tonight: Snow likely, mainly after 4am. Patchy fog between midnight and 4am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a low near 20. East wind between 3 and 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 2 inches possible.

Monday: Periods of snow. The snow could be heavy at times. High near 22. Northeast wind between 10 and 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 4 to 7 inches possible.

Monday Night: Periods of snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Low around 15. Wind chill values between zero and 8. North northeast wind around 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 4 to 7 inches possible.

Tuesday: Periods of snow. High near 19. Wind chill values between -1 and 4. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Tuesday Night: Snow showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 10. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Wednesday:
Snow showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high around 23. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
-------------------------------------------

It's been my observation that the NWS always underestimates by 3"-4" per day ... probably because it's unusual if we *don't* get that much in a day!! The past few days, the weather forecasts on TV have been like, "Well ... it looks like it's going to snow a lot in certain places. We don't know how much or where, because the snowfall totals keep rising. Soooo ... if you're in the UP, there'll be a lot of snow. Some places will get a foot, some will get three ... umm, keep watching!" They've upped the snowfall from flurries, to 1-2", to 4-7" in the last 12 hours! :yikes:

Here in DE tomorrow we are maybe going to get 6-10 inches starting between 8am - 10am and then 2-4 more inches from 6-12 pm. So far this year when they have predicted snow we have gotten it, so maybe they will be wrong this time.
I hope there is no snow near the regionals this week, and good luck to all this attending them.

Bryan,

Try this....turn on your oven and put your head inside. That is how my wife describes 110 degrees. Yes, the summers are hot. In the past ten years none of my neighbors have had a heart attack from shoveling sun. I clearly remember many snowy days growing up in Ohio. I'll take Arizona! Besides, ever since Woody, Dave, and Dean invented the air conditioner, summers here are not all that bad.

I'm flying out of Logan Wednesday night to head home for Sacramento. I'm hoping the snow doesn't have an effect either. It seems like everytime I leave Boston I just beat out a big storm.

Looking at the 10 day forecast I get to come home to at least two days of rain. With a high of 68* I'll be burning up :D

Snow? .....hmmmmmmmmmmm...... can't find anything in the manual about it, and noone around here knows anything about it. Was it in the kit of parts? Anyone have the specs on it? From your descriptions, it's an unlimited quantity material but we can't seem to find any available locally.

Baltimore to Boston, roundtrip about $125
Baltimore to Phoenix, roundtrip about $285

The price of sunshine: about $35 per day.

Oh yeah, it's in section 3.8.4 it states:

Quote:

All weather phanomenons much accour right before a kick-off event or regional that is highly anticipated. Snow must be under 60" tall and must weigh 120 lbs without the battery. If you buy snow from outside source, make sure to follow the additional parts flow chart.
So there you go....

Michigan got pounded. We had a recruitment event today at the school but our school cancelled. This is bad for all teams in the area because the teams can't meet and programmers are going to run out of time.

For my area of Connecticut...
Quote:

... A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON...

SNOW WILL CONTINUE THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS THE LAKE GEORGE NORTHERN SARATOGA REGION... THE MOHAWK VALLEY... THE CATSKILLS... AND WESTERN NEW ENGLAND FROM SOUTHERN VERMONT SOUTH INTO THE LITCHFIELD HILLS OF CONNECTICUT. PERIODS OF SNOW WILL CONTINUE THIS AFTERNOON INTO THE EARLY EVENING. SNOWFALL SO FAR HAS RANGED FROM 6 TO 12 INCHES. AN ADDITIONAL 2 TO 4 INCHES WILL FALL. STORM TOTAL SNOWFALL AMOUNTS WILL BE FROM 8 TO 16 INCHES....
So far I think we have around 8 inches of snow or so... and it seems like it isn't going to stop any time soon. Oh well, I am glad because it was enough to get me a snow day!
Now I can relax and be on Chief Delphi without worrying that I should be doing something else right now...
(That is, if I don't get drafted into shoveling the driveway and our sidewalk...)

I'm from just north of Manchester and usually we get alot of snow around this time, the airports in the area are always really good about keeping the runways clean. Chances are you'll get in. See you guys on Thursday morning.
