Point System
For quick reference, here is the updated point system being used in a bunch of the leagues.
20-1st seed 12-2nd and 3rd seed 6-4th through 8th 3-9th through 12th 1-12th through 16th (Seeding before selections) 4-Quarterfinalists 14-Semifinalists 24-Finalists 42-Winners 24-Chairmans 4-Woodie Flowers 2-Win(s) -2-Loss(es) 1-Tie(s) 8-Highest score 16-Rookie All-Star 2-for every non-placement award, except previously mentioned Any changes can be made here, suggestions/comments and all of those things as well. |
Re: Point System
i'd say that the system works and i like it. do you think there should be a bonus if you pick a team that goes undefeated, or goes without a win?
|
Re: Point System
Not really, I think the Win/Loss/Tie system covers that enough. Think of it like this:
You win 7-no losses-you gain 14 points You win 6-Lose one-you gain 10. 4 point swing Win 5-Lose 2-6 points.... 8 point swing. It all equals out really. Besides, elimination rounds is where it will really matter. If you cant win there, then the rest of the wins are moot. |
Re: Point System
ok as i type this i'm creating an interactive scoring sheet in excel, all you will need to do is input someones teams they picked and the results of the competition and bam you got a winner. Thank god for snowdays

Re: Point System
UPDATE! Version 2
same rules as previous leagues and heres the point system adopted from corey. 20....1st seed 12....2nd and 3rd seed 6......4th through 8th 3......9th through 12th 1......12th through 16th (Seeding before selections) 4......Quarter finalists 14.....Semifinalists 24.....Finalists 42.....Winners 24.....Chairmans 20.....Engineering Inspiration Award 15.....Rookie All-Star 8......Woodie Flowers 2......Win(s) -2.....Loss(es) 1......Tie(s) 8.......Highest score 2.......for every non-placement award, except previously mentioned also here is a good explanation on what Fantasy FIRST is by Levin 571. You pick 3 teams (based on a draft order that will be put out later), a possible prize is chosen like rep or shirts, then you watch the competition. Two points for each win your teams collect, 1 for a tie, 0 for a loss. If you want to later you can send in a list of what teams you want but it all depends on the draft order if you actually get those teams. you are allowed to trade teams only fairly though 1 for 1 or 2 for 2 even 3 for 3. the dead line for trading is the wed. before the competition. |
Re: Point System
Just posting here so everyone can see it.
I Will score all my leagues when FIRST gets the official results in, i dont want to finish a league and find out something is wrong, then rescore it and have a different person win. |
Re: Point System
UPDATE! Version 3

(Seeding before selections) 20....1st seed 12....2nd and 3rd seed 6......4th through 8th 3......9th through 12th 2......12th through 16th 4......Quarter finalists 14.....Semifinalists 24.....Finalists 42.....Winners 24.....Chairmans 20.....Engineering Inspiration Award 15.....Rookie All-Star 10.....Rooke Inspiration 8......Woodie Flowers 2......Win(s) -2.....Loss(es) 1......Tie(s) 8.......Highest score / Highest Rookie Seed 5....... Judges Award 2.......for every non-placement award, except previously mentioned also here is a good explanation on what Fantasy FIRST is by Levin 571. You pick 3 teams (based on a draft order that will be put out later), a possible prize is chosen like rep or shirts, then you watch the competition. Re: Point System
An award should be worth more than a win. Several teams get 5 or 6 wins, but very few get more than 1 award, if any at all. So I think awards should be worth 3 or 4 at least.
Also, why is the judges award worth more than a normal? That doesnt really make any sense to me. |
Re: Point System
Unless it gets revised by tomorrow night, I'll throw something out...if FIRST declares that Chairman's and EI are their top two honors, would it not make sense to make them worth more than Regional Champion?
Here's how I'd do it if I ran the world... Champion: 36 EI: 42 Chairman's: 48 Just my thoughts--unless it gets official here, I won't be doing it for Palmetto FF. |
Re: Point System
The awards i guess it is ok if we bump them up to 4 points from now on.
I think boosting the points for Chairmans and EI is a good idea aswell. 4......Quarter finalists 10.....Semifinalists 20.....Finalists 30.....Winners 36......EI 42....Chairmans Sound good? |

Re: Point System
the only thing with that is a first pick should be given more then a second pick .5 really wont complicate it by that much it more just means u can win by a half point how much closer fo a competition can you get. hmm maybe we should ask jessica if she could score this again she rocked last year it was a huge help.

Re: Point System
the only thing Id change now would be making the 1st round selections ALL worth more than the 2nd round ones. I mean why would being picked 8th be 1/8th as valuable as being picked 9th? Your already probably gonna score more points on the playing field anyway, why double reward the 9th picked team?
