i find pop offensive

But punk and ska is the best for pumping you up along with metal. Listening to some less than jake or metallica is great espically "automatic" by LTJ or "Fight Fire With Fire" by metallica.

You cannot understand it because its not the type of music you like. Just because a certain type of music doesn't get you going doesn't mean it doesn't get someone else excited.

I'm all for playing different types of music at regionals and nationals, but I think a lot of you are losing sight of your goals. If you want the music selection to be fair and equal you cant discriminate against any other type of music. That's hyprocritical. Especially if your sole reason is 'I don't like such and such type of music'.

Remember, you are not neccesarily the majority :)

The DJ in Canada told us him were given instructions NOT to play any music that would be given to him! We really wanted to hear "It's not easy being green" by Kermit the Frog, it's kind of our theme song, since we're so green....

I realize that this has nothing to do with first but does anybody know the name of the song the USAF Thunderbirds use when the pilots are being introduced

please don't revive dead threads... It's annoying. Also, for non-first things, there's a special forum. It's called the 'Chit-Chat' forum. (scroll down to the bottem on the index)

and.. I think i know of the song you're talking about, but can't remember it's name... mabey the usaf website??

What about some ska? You know, Reel Big Fish, Mighty Mighty Bosstones - some of that suff. And of course, who can forget the ska/punk/irish band, the Dropkick Murphys? When it comes down to it, if you want high-energy but don't want pop or hip-hop, punk/ska is the way to go.

But I agree with you DJ Fluck - we definately need some Nirvana. Perhaps more grunge/punk as well. Days of the Phoenix by AFI would be a great song. It's one of those songs where you just gotta throw up your arms and celebrate the energy beind punk culture (yeah yeah, some of you may not like 'punk culture,' but the music DOES have energy behind it). A lot of stuff off of the Bouncing Souls' Hopeless Romantic album - such as "Kate is Great" - would be great too (no pun intended).

CD's would be great, except for the whole DMCA thing. That really puts a lid on fun promotions like that.

<edit>"Kate is Great" isn't on Hopeless Romantic. But that doesn't change the fact the Hopeless Romantic has tons of good stuff. '87, Fight to Live, and It's Not the Heat, It's the Humanity are all great songs with tons of energy. And of course, how can you forget Ole - the cover of the ever popular euo-soccer anthem (and coincidentally, our team song). If you're into Bouncing Souls, Maniacal Laughter also has some good high-energy songs - but thats an earlier album, so it's not as musically advanced as Hopeless Romantic. However, I would recommend The Freaks, Nerds, and Romantics with the catchy refrain "We're gonna play nomatter what they say!" off of Maniacal Laughter

*Sings* i'm a hopeless romantiiiiiic, your just hopeless

dont forget flogging molly =) once my band opened for flogging molly and dropkick murphys... it kicked so much butt :D

*dances around* i want to bring a mini-amp and play guitar for team spirit but I doubt first would like that much

Reviving Dead Threads is a whole lot better than making a new one

Personally, I like the music FIRST plays, granted it's not my style.. it does give FIRST that feel that we all come to love.
like someone said previously about one song in particuiar that made there hair stand on end.. as lame as some of those songs may be.. they do create a really unique environment. plus.. there is so much to do there.. who really has time to listen to the music?

my personal favorites are Rednex - Cotton eye Joe and Daft Punk - One more time.. was played during one of the most amazing matches i have ever seen at SBPLI, and we Dominated!

whenever i hear that song now.. i think of that and get goosebumps ^.^
