They are saying that it is a safety issue!
They wont even let us go with just our parents! The main reason is because they have said no to 8 other organizations already this year! They are changing the no travel ruling on MAY 1st which is 6 days after we will leave for the comp! Chris |

Parental rights-mother's point of view
Hi All,
This is Pappy's, Pit Crew Team 69 (Brian's) mom. I have a problem when anyone infringes upon my parental rights. I know since 9/11 it's a safety issue, but these kids won a fantastic opportunity to represent their team, their school, their sponsor and their community with their robot. I didn't have a problem with putting my daughter on a plane 2 weeks at 9/11 and I don't have a problem putting my son on a plane to Florida today, tomorrow or next week. I don't need or appreciate anyone else telling me they will not let my son go. These kids strived for this regional championship and deserve the right to defend their title in Florida at a national competition. President Bush has always encouraged us to get on with our lives. These kids earned their way into nationals and they deserve to go. So let them go! The latest news flash!!!! All the kids need Quincy Public Schools to do is let them touch the robot! They can get down there, they can be at the competition but they really need permission to be able to touch and operate their robot!!! Thanks for listening...... |
just let the kids go. my school board was reluctant at first, but then said to hell with it, the kdis want to have fun, so they let some other school functions fly to florida, so now we are. there's no reason not to fly. if the kids' parents say no, well, sucks for that kid. if the kids parents say, GO TO FLORIDA AND GET OUT OF THE HOUSE FOR A WEEK!, well, the school should let them go :p.

My team will take VERY FEW people to Florida because of LACK OF MONEY. that's really sad! We will only have the driver, the guy who fixes the robot, and a few more people. Our team has about 30 people in the total... that's really sad!
And as I can see, your team has the money needed, and the skills and the will. That's really bad that they don't want to let you go for a "safety reason" like that. By the way, plane is much more safety than bus or car. Going to the nationals is a very safety thing to your futures, your careers, your lifes. I'll write an e-mail to them. ----------------- Rodrigo Ribeiro #383 - The Brazilian Machine |
We are trying everything!
We tried that they wont even let use take control of the robot!
Ie: we can go in watch for the $10,000 reg fee, but we cant touch the robot We will be on Fox 25 news at 10 oclock tonight and we were also in a front page article in the Patriot Ledger (a major paper) We are trying everything!!!!! I have even met with the MAYOR, We need your thoughts to help us ! Even if we dont get down there we are still proud of our team and our accomplisments!! Thanks for your support CHRIS |
give us an email address, we'll email and get them t olet you go. :D

NEWS
Today a lot of things went on. It was found out anyone willing to go can go down with parents, our sponsor does not want to go with out permission from the superintendent. So we need to raise 4,000 dollars (just the entry fee) before Sunday. We can stay some place outside of Disney and pay FIRST the $75 dollars per person. Plan B is convince the superintendet to let us go and then we have teachers and our sponsor willing to let us go. We are willing to go take out a loan. Some people on our team our quitting now and saying, "It't dead in the water", it's not until Sunday. We have 1,000 people that we got signatures from, and most said we will support you in anyway. Some random person at we got to sign a petition said if we get a bus he will drive us all down there. So people are willing to do anything. And we may be a little too HYPER but we have to stick up to our name and not give up. And wont until Sunday.
So just wanted to keep you all updated. And Hope to see you in nationals <~-PaPPy-~> |
dont give it up, you are a regional champion!

money help
ok you don't have alot of time to raise money. this is our fundraising idea that helped us pay for our regionals. we had no money and fundraised it all. most of it was done by putting flyers around the city asking people to put out bottles and cans. we did this at 2 citys because our school has two schools for our district. mind you our main city for our district is 2 miles by 2 miles. in 3 saturdays we made over $4,000 i swear. it really worked. we took the bottles and cans in 2 full vans each time to a meijer's and they gave it all to us. it's a sticky job but it pays off.good luck and keep me posted!!!

It is an almost guarentee if we go with out our sponsor they will pull out of the robotics and not be able to have them next year. I personally do not want to do that. I'm a junior, who has next year to go but its not the point I want to see what we can do. So it comes down to the orginal plan, and that is get the super to say and sign yes. His information I believe can be accessed off of www.quincypublicschools.com
CMC is gone on a vacation so me and some of my team mates will keep you all updated. Friday is basically our last day of taking to them on the job. We can talk to them at their house, but we are crossing the line somewhere, and we want to be professionals. Thanks for all the support! ~-PaPPy-~ |
HYPER'S LAST CALL
Hello every one,
There have been many things that have happended today! The result ends in the fact that we cant go to Nationals, (Bar any GOD like actions) I thank you greatly!!! for all of your suport and I wish every team at the Natioanl Comp the best of luck! For myself, as a senior this proccess has been an eye opener for the political proccess! As a member of team HYPER i dont agree with the outcome but I very proud of my TEAM! We almost pulled off the impossible! We took on the city (and lost) but won the publics oppion! We also WON the UTC New England Regional for the 2nd year in a row! Thank you again, for every letter every signature, it means a lot! If anything this proccess has shown me that FIRST is a great organization full of wonderful teams and GREAT members! You guys have taught me a lot and I also thank you for that!!!!! Again I wish you all the best of LUCK And PS: to the members of my team that feal that i have "layed down and died", I havent I have only followed the wishes of our sponsor! I fully support this team but I know when to call it quits! I hope you understand and dont "blow us over the microscopic line that we walk on". For those of you who insist on continuing without concent I wish you the best of luck but I also hope that you take first's message and use Gracious Professionalism! Thank you gain (and sorry for the type o's It's really late) Chris Chernicki Team DRIVER/Team LEADER :) hypermeet@hotmail.com |
There will be one last push to the superintendent today. It is our last hope. Not to say anything bad about our "leader" but the fight is not over yet. Today is the last day for action. Its not over. Maybe its over for CMC cause hes on vacation but there are a lot of other leaders and many people and parents willing to listen and do what they can.
Keep you all in touch |
Unlike CMC,I'm not going to have any typing mistakes. Let me just say that my name is Brian Collins/"BEEF"/Collins in drag/the best %%%% human player/team Goof/team proclaimed leader unlike CMC who is self proclaimed!!! Let me first just say that yes it is sad and unfortunate that my team will not be able to attend the nationals to show our robot and all of our skills. Also like Pappy said, We still have not given up" until we get into trouble. "gracious perfessionalism." CMC, you say that you feel like you have layed down and died, well i'm sorry, because you're like my brother but, if you're laying there I truely feel like kicking you... What were your imfamous words? " Patience, and Persistance" well, we're still being persistant! and we will not lay down like you. Please don't get mad but, I'm writing this as a reminder of what you can do with some help. Do you remember in Conn., when we were in the room talking about what were some of our faults? Well one of your faults is that you will not listen rationally to other people's opinions, and sometimes you bite the hand which feeds you. Seriously, sometimes you just have to take a step back and let someone (maybe not more experienced) but, more willing and able to do a job, do it. That's one of the most important qualities of a leader... To know when to step back, and just simply follow. Sometimes it is good to have more than one leader, because if one falls the other one is there to help pick him or her up.... If you are offended then I am sorry but, those are my honest opinions.
BEEF/ BRIAN |
You was "truely" Wronged
Dear Brian and Pappy,
Although I do understand everyone has there right to there opinion, you must understand the possible negative aspect that could come from us continuing to aggravate our superintendent. He is the person that must sign off on our trips and plans, therefore if we were to proceed on pestering out city officials we would not get into trouble personally, but we would lose all our abilities as a team to do anything. That being said, may I address the validity of context in your post. No one at North ever remembers appointing you the title of team leader, nor did we opt to “lay down and die.” We only backed off when our team sponsor requested us to, so you see that we did listen to the requests of others…we listened to the money. You have to take a step back and see the bigger picture, just like you said yourself, you have to see, if we didn’t stop, there wouldn’t be a team to fight for. Sometimes for the greater good, one must sacrifice their own needs and wants, that’s exactly what we did, we sacrificed our last chance to go to Florida with the team, so that you will be able to still go next year. Teams faithful servant, Marc Griffin P.S.: You did have spelling mistakes. You misspelled “truely” (truly) and “imfamous” (infamous) |
Hey guys? I know none of you probably want to listen to me at all, and it's been two years since I've had anything to do with my alma mater team (particulary now after my move)... buuuut... it's also not doing great things to image to squabble about silly things on the forum (like who is and is not leader etc....), don't you think?
I am also surprised that Gillette said they would pull out without Creedon's support. But in anycase, I side with the team - and believe that the school board overstepped their boundaries on this - and had I been to the forums and seen this before the Championship, I would have offered to sign. ~ lora T69 Teammate/Driver (98-00 seasons) |
