Re: 2005 PARC!!!!!

PARC was once again a great off season competition. This was my last time being around the robot in a competition setting as a student and I had a great time. Being able to see all of my friends again was great, meeting people from CD that I haven't met before and having some great talks with KoKo ed, something that everyone should get a chance to do because hes a great man to talk to and full of great stories and ideas. Plus I got to sharpie Corey and get sharpied my self. Thank you to team 222 for running an amazing event and congratulations to teams 103, 56 and 25 for winning and making it look easy.

I had a great time at PARC, it ran smoothly and it was kept relatively cool with the 3 industrial fans woot, congrats to team 56, 25 and 103 for your win!

koko ed nice to finally meet u....ive heard alot about u from my team!

this was my first time reffing a FIRST event and hopefully it wont be my last because it was fun (also thanks to all the teams for not coming up to any of the refs and yelling at us),

I would also like to thank 22 for putting on such an awesome event. I had such a great time reffing. It was great to see the game from the ref's perspective and not the driver's for once. I had a great time, had the chance to talk to Koko Ed again, which was fun, and I got to meet a few CDer's who I have yet to meet. Also I got to see all of my friends again. Congratulations to 103, 56, and 25 on an awesome competition and congratulations to all the other teams, it was an awesome event.

Re: 2005 PARC!!!!!

Well after some sleep and some throat lozenges I'm finally back to working order. Thanks to all the volunteers that helped out and Fred for giving us the chance to show our stuff...couple of shout outs

Fred: Great job pulling this event together. By far the best offseason competition I went to.

Sara: Great working with you again. BEST SCORER EVER!

Brad: Thanks for getting me involved, if it's ok with you guys I'd love to keep coming back

and last but by far least

Jess and Freddy: You two put on a great show. I can't wait to see you two on the field at Championships. Just as long as I'm your announcer.

Hey PARC teams, I gotta question for you

How did I do at MCing. What did I do good? What I should do better? How was my overall performance of the day.

THANKS

Re: 2005 PARC!!!!!

Same goes for me, always open to criticism to my play by play. Also does anyone have footage from the quarterfinal matches where I did the MCing? I'm the one who did the "flip" on the field

Well I wouldn't reccomend doing any more rolls towards the other side of the field. That could get pretty dangerous. ;)

I think the MCing and DJing was good all day, except, before you give the Go for a match to start, make sure both sides and referees are ready - and people are totally off the field. This one match a GO was given and people literally flew off the field because they thought autonomous was starting lol.

Re: 2005 PARC!!!!!

The flip wasn't Freddy, it was me. LOL and yeah eveyrone's nervous their first time, but overall Jess was fantastic. We all got a good laugh out of it, and no one got hurt. Keep the comments coming.

That's one way to clear a field fast. Like roaches in the kitchen lights. :D

oops! :o
Well other than my misidentification you did great. You spoke clearly and consicely. You didn't try to impose any faux excitment into the match and just simply let the excitment of FIRST sell itself. You did a great job.

That was a hoot!

I was reffing and had gone to get my water bottle while they got the next round ready, when I heard Jess announcing the alliances and starting the countdown. The look on the faces of the team members who were still setting their 'bots was priceless! They all flew off the field, practically jumping over each other in their haste. I hope someone got that on video!

It's no wonder PARC ran ahead of schedule...

THANKS

All of you have found your calling. The MCing and announcing was as good as any event I can recall this year. You kept it lively without going overboard and the energy level was especially good considering the size of the crowd.

Minor suggestions:
When introducing teams, throw in something about their season or some other color commentary every so often. You could ask teams to give you some tidbits, like you did for robot names.
I'd like to see the MCs spend more time on the field carrying on, but I heard that you were asked not to do too much of that so they could keep on schedule.
I never would have thought I'd ever say this, but Jess could have been louder.
