Let me speak for pink here - it wasn't just a favor. We (179 and 233) both had very detailed scouting records. 1592 ranked up on the top of both of our lists. They were averaging 4.5 caps per match towards the end of the seeding rounds. I think during one of the final matches they scored 5 caps! This is besides the fact that they have a great drive train and work WITH you. 1592 may be a rooky team but watch out, these guys are going places, trust me.

Re: florida regional

I have to admit, this year has been the most exciting Florida Regional in my view. Every year the teams are very open and very friendly... and this year just seemed to push that to a new level from everything I saw. I was so happy to see everybody working together so well both on the field, in the pits, as well as outside of competition. Great job to all of the teams!

I would like to extend an extra thanks out to Teams 945 and 386, it was a great experience to get to work with you guys in the finals since I have not had the oppurtunity to really work with you much before.

Also, another extra thanks to Team 1543... I was very, very impressed by what they accomplished in those 3 days. On the first day, they started off with a non-functioning robot and didn't really know what was going on... to Friday night where I sat down with them in the evening after they had played a few matches once we helped them get their robot functioning to hear them talking some really awesome strategy... and by Saturday they really seemed to display what FIRST is all about. They wrote as an amazing letter of thanks, and seemed to just have an awesome time there. It's always awesome to see a team with that ambition.

Man, that was the greatest regional I have ever been to...

Everyone was hyped up, friendly, and so many amazing machines! Congrats to Pink, Swamp, and the Tigers. Ya'll were great. Oh and that was us that helped score the 113 with 180 and 179 <</ego>>

So, I'll see some of you teams next year, and some a Palmetto!

Good luck,
~Jay Wright

Being on a different part of the field this year (field reset) I got to see alot of matches, and I was very happy with what I saw. I also got a chance to talk to Woodie Flowers during some of the Qual. matches and he was pretty pleased that teams that could stack alot of tetras were winning matches and defense wasn't taking over the regional. All the volunteers were great and I had a great time!!

I didn't mean that they were a "rookie team" as a bad way I'm a rookie for my own team. and they did do awesome. didn't mean anything bad by it.

Re: florida regional

Congrats to all of the teams that played at the Florida regional. Thanks to the organizers of the events. Here are things I really liked at the event.

1) Great weather. How'd you manage that?
2) Pit areas right next to the competition field.
3) The NASA rocket launch in the afternoon was perfect...nice touch! :-)
4) Music was not too loud (something important to us old guys).
5) Access to the event was easy once we were on campus.
6) Woody was at the event. Really encouraging to the teams to see him there...taking time to talk to everyone who wanted to talk to him.
7) Florida Governor Jeb Bush took his time talking to lots of people. Didn't see him in a great big hurry. His Secret Service agents and security guys were friendly...didn't intimidate me with their presence. :-) Kids enjoyed the photo ops and autographs.

Great job to the event organizers, judges and teams. Look forward to returning next year if our budget supports it.

Regards,
Chuck B

its always great to see 342 at the Florida regional. I remember when i was still a participating as a student, that we always feared 342 because they always brought great competition. I hope 342 can make it to Florida next year, you guys help make Florida a great and competitive regional

Re: florida regional

did you noticed that the announcer called some of the tetras multipliers from last years game although he caught himself at the end of the qualification rounds it was just kinda funny how he had someone correct him everytime

Re: florida regional

Hi,
I remember there were four tetras on the center goal during the opening demonstration. The announcer mentioned that it was a 4x multiplier. Now we knew that wasn't in the rules but thought that maybe there was a "Rule Update" on the bus ride down. :-)

ChuckB

Re: florida regional

I want to congratulate all the teams at the Regional for playing as hard as everyone did. I am quite happy for just about every team that I consider myself friends with because they all did a great job in one way or another -you all know who you are. Next I'd like to congratulate all the rookie teams there, and I do mean ALL of them. What a new crop we had at the regional. Of course the tech tigers who very deservingly won the All-Star, but also some of the teams that didn't get awards like Poinciana, Lake County, Windimere, etc. Windimere's team was full of what appeared to be middle school students including the driver, and they were ranked incredibly high. This year there was not one rookie team that was unable to run, that in itself is impressive.

Finally I'd like to give a big thanks to everyone that in some way helped my team get going. It takes many people to start a team, and a whole lot of help, much of this help has been found on Chief Delphi. It has been a long hard-fought trip simply getting off the ground, building a robot within the time frame, and making it to the regional. I'm proud to say our team is becoming well known within the school and entire community, and hopefully soon the state. A big thanks again to everyone that played a role in getting my team the Rookie Inspiration award. In order for someone to Inspire others, they must be inspired by others first. Thank you Chief Delphi and FIRSTers.

Yeah, uhm I feel important now. 845 was the third alliance Partner in that match. That was a beautiful match. See both of you again in Palmetto.

Yeah this was SUCH an awesome Regional. Thanks Tech Tigers, and Red Dragons, you were some awesome Alliance Partners. Thanks to Heat Wave for being good Sports and cheering with us in the mornings. I'd also like to thank 61 for, 21, and everyone else who had all that spirit in the mornings. ;) This was probably the most fun regional I've been into in my 4 years. I can't wait to see a lot of you at Palmetto and *hopefully* Nationals! Great job Pink, you guys were awesome.

Oh yeah and I also have a question. What's the highest scoring match Nationally so far? 113 was the highest one at UCF.
