Female announcers/MCs?

(I searched for this but I couldn't find anything)

I had a fantastic time competing at the BAE regional last weekend, and some of the best parts of the competition were the great MC and UNBELIEVABLE announcer at the competition. They did a wonderful job, but something stuck out in my mind.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there are no female announcers/MCs in FIRST. Why do you think that this is true? I'm interested in people's opinions on the topic, so respond here and let me know!

Arizona Regional had a female MC. So that's not totally true.

Yeah, we stole her this year. :D She was pretty good, although she was gone for a good chunk of time Friday and didn't say too much, but that might be due to the remarkable announcing by Don Knight. I didn't get her name, does anyone know? She's definitely my favorite MC to date. It's funny, after watching VCU and Peachtree on the web last weekend I thought to myself, 'Wouldn't it be nice to have a female accouncer?' It's like FIRST read my mind.

>_< I want to be a FIRST announcer when I grow up actually. We'll see how that works out. :)

I think the most important thing is that females who are interested in the job apply, fulfill whatever requirements there are, and get in there and make an effort. :)

I that the essance of that question lies in the lack of female engineers and females in FIRST and FIRST's efforts to remedy that problem.
