I still haven't figured that out yet. We may just have to wait and see when the TV Guide comes out. I'll keep checking the page.

Copying cable

If it is illegal then i won't post it here. If I can even digitize it. I don't want to make ChiefDelphi.com responsible.
Techiannly, you can't without written approval. But if you show A & E chiefdelphi.com website than they might accept.

But I think that there is now law if you share it via AIM, Limewire, Bearshare, E-mail, etc.

If you do get it on the website. What format will you have it in? What codec will you use? I have heard that something like Sorenson Video 3 Codec is excellent quality at a low bit rate. Something like 240x180 would probably be a good resolution for the video.

actually i've never done it before and i don't know much about it. so, it may work better if someone who knew what they were doing, did it. i should practice first:)

I don't really now much about that stuff but I do have some tv card in my computer I can try to record the show with. Maybe that way at least one of us will get a good copy of it

Well I have done quite a lot a digital editing, and other video digitizing in the past year or so. What we want is a codec that everybody has, and that would give us the lowest bit rate with the highest possibly quality. The one most importnant thing for optimizing video for people to see is the number of megabytes. The lower the better (Nobody wants to download a 4.5 gig DV Stream). The bit rate is how many kiliobytes a second the video gets. If we set it too low than we will get cruddy and unseable video. If we set it to high than it would too much megabytes for this long presentation. A good seeting is aproxmitley 20-50 kilobytes per second. There are some advance codecs like the On2 Codec. The Sorenson Video 3 Codec. The Intel Indeuo Codec. ETC.

Sharing digital copies is like sharing a VHS copy. It's perfectly legal for you to make a digital copy and keep it for viewing. You can also share the digital copy with your friends. But I'm pretty sure you can't put it on public sites without permission.

A & E Airing FIRST

Just to let you know......A&E is airing the piece first on July 26th, 2001 at 10pm EST.
I am sending an email to all Main & Alternate contacts in my database to let all the teams know today.

-Lori- :)

David Kelly 19-07-2001 11:36

Now i'm puzzled:confused: According the the A&E website it will air on August 4 at 2pm. One of these dates must be wrong. Lori, do you have any contacts at A&E to find out which one is right?

-Lori 19-07-2001 12:02

A&E

I'll have to check again, but my sources here in the office say it's July 26...I'll let you know for sure when I find out.

I already sent out that email this morning too.....UGH!!!!

So, then, will we pull like what we did with the Chief on GMA? ;)

Actually, you can put it on a public web site, just as long as you aren't making money off of it.

Then again, we might get into one of those Napster arguments...

Not true. Someone on our team digitized the 10 minute clip from our appearance on Chicago PBS and we put it on our website. PBS told us to take the public link down, but said we could keep the video on the server and privately give people the link to it.

Jess, yes we can do what we did for CD on GMA, just pass it along or use a 'private' link.

It appears to have been rescheduled based on this link from the A&E message boards: http://www.aande.com/perl/wwwthreads...&sb=5#Post1250

funny thing is that he said July 28 instead of July 26.
