Team 1251 (Techtigers) is raffeling a SEGway as a fund raiser. Tickets are $10.00 each and only 1,000 tickets will be sold. You can reserve tickets by sending me an e-mail. If you are interested in buying a ticket or tickets please include the following in the e-mail:

Raffling is a form of gambling, and gambling has a minimum age of 18. At least I think... I'll look into getting my family to buy a couple tickets :).

The SEGway model is an I167 with a software upgrade.
Whoever pays for the ticket has to be 18 or older. Dont forget everyone is welcome to buy tickets.

Would that I167 be Titanium of Midnight Blue (hopes for the latter!!!!)?

Also, is the fundraiser for your team? When is the drawing? And is the winner responsible for picking up the prize or paying for shipping?

The I167 is titamium in color - the midnight blue model is the I170 ... sorry, but I LOVE my 167 - and if I win this one I will have a matched set!!

In reference to using paypal.

Team 871 ran a Segway Raffle in the Fall. Keep in mind that when you use paypal, it will cost you about $.60 per transaction, so the team only gets $9.40 per ticket.

But it was still a great fundraiser. I think we sold 650 out of the 1000 tickets (November to December). Next time I would run it a bit longer to sell all 1000.

Raffling myst not be considered gambling in NH, I'm not 18 yet and I buy tickets to all kinds of stuff.
I'm looking into getting my mom to purchase a ticket for me though.

The raffle is to raise money for team 1251 (Techtigers), in order for the team to go to South Carolina we must sell at least 350 tickets, so support our team by buying a ticket and remember: " One must play in order to win. "

We will pay for any shipping costs for the delivery of the SEGway. The Drawing will be 4-1-05.

The plan was to reserve your tickets once you send us an e-mail and then we would give you the mailing address but it doesn't hurt to post it here. Now please, make sure you e-mail first to reserve your tickets, that way we know your check is coming and we dont sell your tickets.

I'm sorry but the drawing will be April 1st, 2005. This means that by the time we go to nationals the segway will already have an owner. Besides we are not allow to sell tickets at regional or at the championship. So if you want tickets this is the moment to get them. If you want to participate, checks have to arrive to our school no later then 3-31-05.

Even when paying with paypal please e-mail first to reserve your tickets. Once we receive a confirmation of your payment we will e-mail you the ticket number(s) and mail the stubs if you provide us an address.

It is hard to tell since that each team member has tickets to be selling but from the people on chiefdelphi about 14 tickets have been reserved. Please continue to support our team.

14 tickets? That's all? It seems like a pretty low number... It means for better odds for me, but more importantly it takes away from the purpose that I bought my tickets in the first place; to help you.

Anyways, some people may have reserved tickets through their parents (like me), so it may not be all that bad.

Thank you very much for your support. We did think that we could sell a lot more here, to people that are involve with FIRST for two reasons:

1. The love for Segways
2. People understand that other teams need support

Thanks to all the supporters and if you haven't reserved a ticket yet, do so now. Team 1251 needs your input in order to compete in South Carolina next week. By participating you will help all of the students in our team and you could also win a Segway.

PS: Get family, friends, co-workers, team mates, everyone you know to buy a ticket. It is important for The Techtigers.

you know whats great about this. If someone on a FIRST team wins this, they could use it for the summer, then have a raffle for their team in the fall (donate it to their own team for the raffle)

then the taxes would cancel out (what you would owe for winning it, and the write-off you would get for donating it to your own team) and you have a free segway for the summer. :^)

Great Idea, chances of winning are pretty high right now, since we haven't sold a quarter of our tickets, so there won't be a better chance to get a segway for $10.00, and best of all you will help us go to SC.

When you say 1/4 of the tickets, do you mean you haven't sold 100 or you haven't sold 250? Any update on numbers? And if you don't sell 350, are you still going to hold a raffle?

We are having the raffle no matter what, because we have already sold so many tickets. Also I think we have already sold over 350, but we are hoping to get to 500 so that we get some more funds.

We were talking about doing the same think about raflling off tickets for a segway. I think if we do we are going to do a XT I think thats the one. Which ever one is the off-road one. If we do do it I'll ask our mentor if we can sell tickets outside of the school. If we do I'll let y'all know some if anyone of y'all are interested y'all can buy a ticket. I'll let you know as soon as I find out something.

I'm not sure if there would be as much as a market for the XT as there would be for a p-series or I-series. XT loses all urban transportation practicality; it can't go on sidewalks, its humungous, etc). Unless you live in a rural area with lots of ATV areas (or similar), I wouldn't recommend it. Even then, it would be difficult to sell many here on Chief Delphi. Also, if someone on CD wins, do you know how much shipping would cost? An XT weighs 260 pounds.

The fact about raffles are, nearly all of them must be legally registered with your state. If you claim that your drawing is to be held for April 1, then it has be drawn for April 1.

I don't think they will be able to extend the length of the raffle.

wow it must be hard to do things like that then.
Over ehre all we have to do is say we are going to do a raffle and thts its. we organised one, collected prizes and then jus tdid it in school one day. We had to keep postponing due to other events, and had no bother with doing that

The drawing was done at Atlantic Technical Center by the Booster Club of robotics (parents). At the same time the raffle was taking place some of the team members were at the Palmetto regional. We just got back from South Carolina and I still dont know what the wining number was, if i speak to a member of the booster club I will post here today, if not then I will do it tommorrow after school since at school I will find out who won.

That may be well and good. But officially you must register with your state that you are hosting a raffle whether it be just within the school. Since a raffle is a form of gambling, you must register with your state just to make it legit.

Yeah I am in the same boat as you. I mailed a check for 3 tickets. They claimed to have mailed something out and would double check my ticket numbers but they never did.

What I am thinking now is, that someone on their team or a family member of the team won the Segway and perhaps its possible they do not want to release any of that information.

Who knows, perhaps they're just busy. Hopefully we'll get a response soon. I'll be kind of upset/confused if I do not receive me tickets in the mail. Won't you?
