Re: Coaching question
Though I have never been a coach behind the drivers station I can tell you one thing for certain, During some matches it can be easy and during others it can be real hard. His main job is to stay calm and keep the drivers in check. Before the match all the drivers and coaches come up with at least 2 ways to play the match, The main way and a backup plan. After that gets all discussed he talks to his drivers to make sure everythings cool, Once the match begins everyone behind the drivers side observes the robots in action - If for some reason the robot does something out of the blue (e.g. if the robot was suppose to go forward then left and knock the tetra over but in turns does the opposite and gets caught at the bas of another goal) the coach must be able to come up with a plan to get the robot in play before the 15 secs is up and relay that information so that there's no lost time (or at least not much) After that is said and done with the coach sits back and relaxs and watches the drivers at work and make sure they don't deviate away from the stratedgy too much.
Like many other posts have said the coach should also keep a very big ear and eye out for what thier alliance partners are saying just in case a change in plan needs to be made. whoops another rather long post - oh well i hope its informative |
