R.I.P. Mitch Hedberg

For those of you that don't know Mitch Hedberg. A comedian out of St Paul Minnesota, died last night from a heart attack. For those of you familiar with his work I know that you stand with me in saying that he was a ingeniously funny man, and that he will be sorely missed by the comedic world and the population in general. I felt like I had to post something and this seemed like the place to do it at the time. So feel free to add your two cents in if you want.

R.I.P. Mitch, you will be missed.

If I remember right, one of his jokes was:

I'd prefer not to die on March 31. I don't want everyone to assume I was merely early for a joke.

...so I'm not sure what to think.

Here's the article they had on VH1.com. So if this is a joke he's going all out. I really don't think so though. A loss to the whole world.

It's on Comedy Central's Website, Google News, his hometown paper, and his website is down. So I don't know what to believe

Re: R.I.P. Mitch Hedberg

Websites mainly down due to traffic overload trying to see if he is truly dead i think.

Personally, I'm going to be praying hard that this is a big joke, Mitch was my favorite comedian, it floored me earlier today when i found out about this.

According to people on Fark, comedy clubs where he was having shows have started to refund the tickets.

Truly a sad day for comedy.

The story has been picked up on the news wires, and is pretty much out there.

I'm thinking its not a joke.

He had a very unique style of comedy that only belonged to him. This is a terrible day for the stand up comic world. :(

RIP Mitch

I was just on his site. It says it was updated 3/31/05, and no word on his death. It also has his tour dates still posted. I don't know what to think

I am very saddened by this news. I first read this thread last night before i went to bed. I ran into the living room and told my roommate and one of my best friends. We are all big Mitch fans, and we just kinda sat there and were like 'uhh this sucks'.

But now when i just went to his website. It was updated this morning with this:
Last Update
04.01.2005
This site is experiencing massive amounts of traffic. The site may be temporarily suspended again. Be patient and realize that I am working on keeping this site up. ~chaille

Weird, update it at 4.01 and not even mention this. Then again if it was a prank, he would definately have something posted on his website, atleast i would. Who knows. Its sad though. He was a very very funny man.

This article has the scheduled viewing and some quotes from his mother. So i guesse it is true, this sucks.

Re: R.I.P. Mitch Hedberg

I'm glad to say that i was able to see one of his one of his last shows, at Caroline's in NYC a few weeks back. I'm glad i got this opportunity to see him before it was to late, it was one of the greatest shows iv ever been to. despite the sadness of this news I'm sure he would want us to laugh in his memory so in dedication to him iv been playing his CD on repeat for the last few hours.

I'm still hoping that this is one elaborate April fools joke, but the New York Times reported it so it might not be.

"This place Caroline's isn't spelled with an apostrophe S. that means it isn't hers."

RIP Mitch

I too saw him last year, one of the best comedians ever. I'll miss him

I thought this was an April Fool's joke, too but it doesn't seem like it. He was my favorite comedian ever! "My friend offered me a frozen banana, but I wanted a regular one later..so..yeah.."
