And the FBI would set up shop inside the server storage room to constantly browse the accounts for illegal activities.

I hope they like cold temperatures...I'm sure google has one heck of a cooling unit in their server room.

What's new on Gmail?
Just Launched!

G is for growth
Storage is an important part of email, but that doesn't mean you should have to worry about it. To celebrate our one-year birthday, we're giving everyone one more gigabyte. But why stop the party there? Our plan is to continue growing your storage beyond 2GBs by giving you more space as we are able. We know that email will only become more important in people's lives, and we want Gmail to keep up with our users and their needs. From Gmail, you can expect more.

This actually makes sense because Yahoo just announced that they were increasing their storage to 1 GB. Good ol' G-Mail, staying one step ahead.

If your referring to account size, it's becuase the account size grows with your system clock. I set mine a few hours ahead this morning and gained 200 MB in 5 seconds :P

Re: GMail Adds More Space

Yea I am using 47 MB 2% of 2050 MB. I think the added storage is nice but not really needed as trying to send large files is hard with only a 10 MB attachment limit. I think they should work on that next, but hey it is free so I can't complain.

Joe Matt 02-04-2005 13:48

Re: GMail Adds More Space

2051 mb for me.

I think they should also bump up attachments to 20 mb....

Jeffmudhs 02-04-2005 14:23

Re: GMail Adds More Space

If you notice the log-in page theres a counter there, and it just keeps going up. I'm scared.

Don't throw anything away.
2051.209800 megabytes (and counting) of free storage so you'll never need to delete another message.

wasn't there something about being able to use Gmail as an additional harddrive?

Bcahn836 02-04-2005 14:30

Re: GMail Adds More Space

ok, lets see my storage space is up to 2051 MB, I have 50 Gmail invites left thats 102550 MB!!! I think it would be a challenge to use up that much space. You could store and entire DVD on your gmail account, just at 20mb at a time.

My guess is that Google has maxed out the space to 2075 since yesterday, but the clock was added as a gimmick to keep people interested.

Yes... it is called gmail drive and it is a windows shell extension (shows up as an additional hd) the only limitation is that files must be smaller than 10 MB. http://www.softpedia.com/get/Interne...xtension.shtml

I guess I am a power user: You are currently using 2 MB (0%) of your 2080 MB. :ahh:
