2005 Chief Delphi Web Hug Raffle
 

Starting in about 20 minutes we will start giving out raffle tickets for the Web Hug raffle. We will have a bunch of prizes to give away, similar to last year. This year, we will be raffling them off rather than basing the giveaways on forum statistics.

On the 47 minute mark (the 60 seconds between XX:47:00 and XX:47:59) of every hour from now until the Sunday night before the Championships, a link will show up at the top of every page. Click that, and get a ticket. We will be giving out 15 every hour. You may get one ticket this week (4/2-4/10) and one next week (4/11-4/17), giving you two total chances to win a prize.

Get a ticket. Print it out. Bring it with you. Win a prize .. if you're lucky.

Right. Next monday (9 days) you can get another one.

(It's 9 days, because I started it today instead of Monday like I had originally planned.)

Just to clarify:
I think the page said only 10 every hour - but you said 15?

If all the tickets for that minute aren't claimed, and it turns to :48, are those tickets gone?

Yeah, I noticed the bug about 10vs15. I fixed that.

Yes, everybody gets 60 seconds, if they aren't claimed -- they're gone.

One thing for all you Firefox users like me that can't print...use Ctrl+S to save your ticket for later. It pulls up just fine.

Code is about 30% done.

I should be able to work on that tomorrow a bit. If not, it should be ready early next week. I was going to do that today, but I needed to get the ticket thing in place first.

Brandon,
Do we have to be there with the ticket, or could the ticket be there with someone else? I take it we need to be present to win, but do you have a way to try and keep people from using tickets they get from other users (seeing that many of us have never seen each other in person before)? Just trying to help clear up any potential problems.

The best time to get a ticket is in the early morning or late night.
Not as many posters to compete with.

:( I run upstairs to turn my printer on, come back, and firefox crashed.

Is there a way that you can give me a copy of a new ticket? If not I'll just wait until the next hour and grab one. The ticket number started with 15 if thats any help.

For all y'all's information, y'all can get there by goin' t' this page. (If Brandon did his job right ;), it shouldn't be a problem that I post a link to the page. When I go there, it says But it also gives me a link to redisplay the one ticket I have (so far), so I can (re)print it.)

I did see the prizes the last two years, but I can't say I remember what they were. I'm thinking some of them might have been Chief Delphi team t-shirts. But that made me think that maybe some other teams would be willing to provide t-shirts as prizes. I imagine we could probably come up with a Beach 'Bot shirt for such a worthy cause. (And I can think of any number of team shirts I would covet. :D)

I got my ticket just now, but for some reason, my printer didn't print the grey, I think I need to clean my ink cartridges or get new ones... either way, will anyone care?

I don't think it does print the grey, I think that is an ink saving feature of CD namely because mine didn't print the grey either.

Heidi and I got ours the first day. And the gray background doesn't print unless you tell your browser to print background colors.

Not that you'd want to print the background, but in Mozilla, you can turn on background printing right under Page Setup, where you'd expect it to be. In IE, you have to go into Internet Options, go to the Advanced tab, scroll down to the Printing section, and select the option to "Print background colors and Images".

Don't forget to get your first raffle ticket if you haven't already; you lose your chance tonight at Midnight. And, don't forget to get your second ticket and double your chances of winning a prize. 'Week Two' begins tonight at Midnight (EDT). So far over 200 tickets have been given out.

I should also mention: one prize per person. The same person can't win twice. We want to make as many (different) people win as possible.
