FIRST Robotics Conference sponsor??
Anybody else see who the official sponsor for the FIRST Robotics Conference is? Is there some company also called the Central Intelligence Agency or is the CIA joining FIRST?

Re: FIRST Robotics Conference sponsor??
OMG, I'm like...stunned to read that. I don't think the US would let someone else have a company with the same name as the CIA. So, my guess is probably the REAL deal. How odd...Maybe they've finally realized the best and the brightest come from FIRST!

Perhaps they've got agents undercover to find out what this "FIRST" thing is all about. Just wait until the CIA finds out about ChiefDelphi! ;) |

Re: FIRST Robotics Conference sponsor??
I think it was a year or so ago that I heard the CIA was showing an interest in FIRST. For all I know it could have been much earlier than that. I believe they attended some events and maybe did some recruitment (not sure on that last one). In any case, I'm sure that as BandChick said "they've finally realized the best and the brightest come from FIRST!" :)

Re: FIRST Robotics Conference sponsor??
The CIA was at Nats last year, isn't it there job to be ever where? They were there handing out info on joining the CIA and there internship programs. I got a pen and a cool CIA pin from them last year, but for some reason i don't remember anything after that... :)

Uh, gotta go. *runs downstairs* How was that guys? CIA - "Good, now convince Dave to eat Dunkin Donuts, the 'special' ones..." Me - "Uhh..." CIA - "You don't want to wake up working as a freshman on TechnoKats, now do you?" Me - "Ok....." The End (?) |
Re: FIRST Robotics Conference sponsor??
CIA recruits just like anyone else.
The NSA really recruits in the local high schools here and has intensive summer internships. |

Oh band chick you make me giggle. We cannot forget those of the CIA which also stands for the Culinary Institute of America. Telling the CIA they cannot participate in FIRST would be like telling a team sponsored by the Coast Guard they couldn't sponsor. |

Central Intelligence Agency." I know "CIA" is more popular, but it's really hard to misunderstand "Central Intelligence Agency," isn't it? |
Re: FIRST Robotics Conference sponsor??
I would not be to surprised they were at Championship last year recruiting in the same place the colleges were. I guess they all are looking for smart kids and have found a place to get them :D .

Re: FIRST Robotics Conference sponsor??
There is a conference sponsor ALONG WITH charging people to attend the sessions?
For the record, I am honored to be able to participate in the conference, but I don't agree that attendees should be charged. I see the reasons why, but I also see many reasons why charging is not a good idea. Andy B. |
