My vote is going for the Florida team .... The Navigators (team 79)

ITS KRUNCHTIME!!!

Every single regional Chairman's award winner has a shot at Nationals. Every single team has done a great job. Other than team 79, I (personal opinion) think Techno Ticks, followed by team 365 would win.

... But anything can happen.

My picks would be 79, 60, 111, or 341. All great teams with great programs that go way above and beyond most FIRST teams.

Hmm... Fantasy FIRST Chairmans Award League... :]

my pick is on team 65. ha ha ha. no for real i think we have a really good chance of winning it this year. but if we don't win i think that team 111 is going to win it.

Incidentally, 812 won last year's Engineering Inspiration Award, which is the 2nd highest award that FIRST offers.

I was wondering, are the teams that won the engineering inspiration award on the regional level the only teams eligible to win it on the champioship level?

Re: Who do you think is the best bet to win the Chairman's Award at the Championship?

I'm going to start off by recognizing and congratulating all thirty regional winners:

501, 340, 384, 1002, 393, 842, 79, 65, 1014, 931, 236, 957, 1108, 341, 503, 11, 358, 48, 233, 111, 694, 365, 368, 1006, 1241, 60, 118, 342, 812, 67

The judges in Atlanta will have a most difficult job, but truly they cannot make a bad choice from a group of such inspiring role models. Because I represent PA, more specifically the Philadelphia area, my heart is with our hometown heroes 341 and 365 (in no particular order guys :)). However, over the years I have also become a huge fan of many of these programs on the list. In the end, we will all be winners because these 30 programs will keep raising the bar (along with our Hall of Famers and former Regional CA winners) to strengthen all of FIRST and move us toward our shared vision of a changed culture.

Good luck everybody :)

I personally think that 342 will be able to win the Chairmans Award at Nationals this year. Like Billfred said, that had done a great job at reaching out. They always have a great animation showing what FIRST is about. Team 342 must be continually inspiring people because last year they won the Chairmans Award at Palmetto also. To me personally i think they are a great role model team and exemplify the true meaning of FIRST. :)

Re: Who do you think is the best bet to win the Chairman's Award at the Championship?

It'd be wrong if i didn't think my own team was going to win the national Chairman's Award. Team 118 has been doing an extreme amount of work since it's creation years ago. We've won the Lone Star Regional Chairman's award twice now, once in 2003 and again this year in 2005. The Robonauts won the judges award in 2003 at the national level commending the work we do with younger students, and based on the comments we received back from the judges, we really upped our progress since then. Over the years some of the major points of the things we've done are but not limited to:
-Creating the EARLY(Engineering And Robotics Learned Young) robotics competition for k-5 . link
-Spreading EARLY across the US and beyond (over 100 teams in South Africa)
-Designing EARLY challenges each semester and running Tournament
-Mentoring 14 FLL(FIRST Lego League) teams every year
-Starting new FLL teams across Houston
-Organizing and Helping with National FLL Invitational at FIRST Championship in Houston in 2003
-Planning/Organizing/Hosting/Running South Texas FLL Regional (over 70 teams)
-Mentoring BEST (Boosting Engineering Science and Technology) teams
-Volunteering at BEST Kickoff, Practice day, and Competition
-Mentoring Botball team
-Volunteering at Botball Competition and Kickoff.
-Along with help from Houston Area Schools created HREP(Houston Robotics Education Program). link
-Started and Mentored many FIRST teams over the years in many places.
-Robonauts Alumni have gone on to start many teams and mentor
-Acquired funding for 9 teams this year alone through Houston Robotics grants
-Shared work facility, along with tools, mentors, and students, to another team for last 2 years.
-Promoted HREP to and adopted HREP in other communities
-Promoted Robotics Education, FIRST, and HREP at an uncountable number of community events over the years. (World Space Conference, Offshore Technology Convention, ASME Crawfish Boil, SECME Competitions, JSC Visitor Center Demos, NASA Bring your Kid to work day, NASA Open house days, Car washes at the donut shop...)
-Ran Summer Workshops for teaching teachers about FLL and EARLY
-Gave out grants through Houston Robotics for adding Lego Simple Machine kits into Elementary school's Curriculum.
-... the list goes on, but the time i have right now doesn't so that will have to do for now.

The robonauts really bust their butts year round, and i feel that they really do enough outreach year round to educate the children in the Houston Community to FIRST and Robotics Education that deserve the Chairman's Award.

My vote personally, based purely upon what knowledge I have of them, is on 60 or 365. I would like to see 812 be at least a runner-up though, as they have developed an amazing program in a compartively short span of time.

I highly doubt that teams that only won an engineering inspiration award at regionals can only win it at nationals, however, this is not based on any facts. Even though Engineering Inspiration does qualify a team to go to championship, it's not as high of a priority to find funding for the championship because it doesn't mean you're up for any kind of award. Based from experience, our team had no idea we had a shot at winning engineering inspiration, it came as a big surprise last year. We went to Championships last year because of the tier system and registering before hand. We would have most likely not gone to Championships if we had not registered before.

I so agree with that! Its amazing to hear of all the things that FIRST does for people. I proud of all the Chairman's winners. I'm proud that my team lives FIRST and that I feel like I'm home every time I'm with my team.

Good luck to all and congrats to the winner!

Good Luck to all the teams (including mine) for the National Chariman's Award...

I believe that teams that have won Chairman more then once would have a better chance...and many are better then mine...

Anyone has a chance

Go 694......

Re: Who do you think is the best bet to win the Chairman's Award at the Championship?

Just to remind people/teams!

There is a sticky-post in the Chairmans Award Forums about posting your Chairmans submissions in the CD-white pages.

It would be awsome if more 2005 regional winners would post. [Only 3 teams so far] Then other non-regional winner teams would have a good array of regional winner team submissions to look at.

True, but also consider that there are teams on this list who were "Chairman's Award Finalists" before the Regional Chairman's Award came out a few years ago.

Other than that added point of reference, there are too many teams to pick a favorite. I presume that most of these teams will deserve the Championship Chairman's Award, but only one can win.

Good job to all Chairman's Award Regional winners and good luck to you all in Atlanta.

Andy B.
