Fantasy FIRST drafting tips for newbies (and veterans)

Here are some tips to maximize your draft for the upcomming championship.

- Remember: this year we have a new scoring system and the Chairman's award is the highest scoring element of the game. It would be wise to take a serious look at the 29 finalist (so far 501 hasn't registered yet) and study which team has the best chance of immortality and have a competetive robot.

- Check the competition history of teams you are considering. What was their won/loss record? How many points did they average per match? If possible, find out if they are penalty prone.

- See how many competitions the robot participated in. Remember the more they participated in the more experinced it is but also the more wear and tear the robot has. On the opposite end of the coin robots that have done one competition are more "fresh" but do not have the solid line of work to go on to know how realiable they really are.

Anybody want to add any other tips?

do not rely on the lowest number teams to be the best. if i remember correctly wasn't there a high number robot that won last year or finalists? so give those rookies a chance and the other 2/3 year teams as well.

and pick 65 or 67. they are both gm teams. but if you are in the draft as me if you pick 65 i will kill you. lol just kidding you can pick them i would be happy to see that people know we have a big chance at winning the chairmans and nationals this year. so to whom ever picks 65 in any draft thank you. lol

-Oh yeah.
NO TRADING TEAM SHIRTS. MT. DEW OR GIVEAWAYS FOR ROBOTS.
YOU CAN ONLY TRADE A ROBOT FOR ANOTHER ROBOT. ONE FOR ONE. TWO FOR TWO OR THREE FOR THREE!
NO UNEVEN TRADES!

No. No trading virtual items for real life items.

Try to find out about robots who you havnt seen in person. A lot of ppl pick the bots theyve seen and leave out some amazing other competitors (Im guilty of this too), so if you can, ask about what other robots and teams can do and have done.

Well in case any one needed another reason to listen to what Ed said look at this little piece of advice he gave and then look at what 67 did at Nationals, and finally check out the fact that the person who picked 67 won FF. If only every one could be as smart as Ed

The two most coveted robots this year are Chairman's finalist (25 and 1114) so they are just plain good bets all around.
