Well i noticed this highly wrote in thread from last year was not made yet and considering its only 2 weeks away i figured to do good for everyone :D

For myself - with the FIRST chats that we usually have running on AIM nightly there are quite a few people i want to meet both student and mentor wise...

I think a better question to ask would be: who don't I want to meet? I've never met a FIRST person in person that I haven't liked. So I (or anyone else) can try not to miss anyone, would anyone be up for a standardized name tag system? I know this has been discussed before and people have done such things, but never has such a broad undertaking been really used by a lot of people (to my knowledge.) Here's a concept I whipped up in 10 minutes, brought to you by MS Paint and PrintScreen.

Or howabout a standard button we could wear on our shirts? Something simple, an orange background with black text saying "CD poster" (only chiefdelphi ppl will know what CD means). Don't put your name on the tag though, the idea is to have other CD posters approach you and ask you what your name is to start the conversation. What do you think? :cool:

Idea: A basket of these buttons could be outside the Team 47 pit. They won't be actively given away but everyone who posts on CD will know to grab one when they arrive in Atlanta.

I think that idea is just as good, if not better than mine...it'll encourage people who might be shy of face-to-face encounters to approach a person. So, rather than having 150 "I saw John-V-Neun" user titles, we can have 150 "I met JVN" user titles :D . My idea was simply to have a common way to identify a chief delphi poster, and any way that gets done is good.

Why not do a variation of the trading card idea and make some sort of nametag template that is easy to edit in Photoshop. Then everyone can easily have thir own ID and Cheifdelphi doesn't have to file for bankruptcy.

This seems to be the best way to do this. Many kids are on spring break this week (cough... Kyle45... cough), and one or two of them could pull together a design pretty quickly.

Great... rub it in, Ed. I can't make it this year, due to my commitment to the FIRST Robotics Conference. As an attendee of the original webhug in '99, I am officially on protest. Maybe someone can make one of those life size cutouts of me and bring it to the webhug... that would be cool, and frighteningly alarming at the same time.

You may want to be speciffic about who you want making the cutout. Dave can attest that if Heidi (Missinforamtion) does it your likeness could be attending the webhug on the body of a duck.

You know, a friend-of-the-family used to have a "life-sized" cut out of Mike Holmgren (when he was the Packers head coach, of course!) in her family's basement that we'd always dress up... The outfits always depended on the final game score - if the Packers won, he was dressed in "nice" clothes. If they lost, he got the Packer's cheerleading outfit, or maybe a bikini.

Bottom line is, you might wanna rethink the whole cut-out idea because they're *really* fun/easy to dress up (like, oh, in a kilt) ... on second thought hmmm ... ;)

he helped me to become a better driver, which is great considering this is my first year on the team and i made operator.

but he has also helped us in our scouting which helped us alot but i am happy he is on our team

I was honored to have him as a mentor for my first 3 years of high school back when I was on the Technokats.

He'd always have better driver tryout scores then the actual kids who were trying out... :D

yeah, he did that at the beginning of our tryouts but towards the last week we started beating his score which was a hard goal but we did it and he was happy too becuase we were the ones competing and we would do a good job

I'm up for meeting pretty much anyone, but I've been hideously bad about doing that so far. I've been trying to talk to Jeff Waegelin (or however it's spelled) at two regionals now. Because of scheduling - huge issues with our auton and his being a referee at Detroit - I haven't been able to yet.

If I make a list, there's almost a guarantee I won't get to talk to those people. Best for me not to do that, then. :)

I'll prefer to wear my FIRST-themed volunteer badge from volunteering at the Detroit regional, except I could add a Chief Delphi sticker :D . Sticker badges always have a hard time sticking to my shirt :p .

At nationals, I wish to meet pretty much anyone. Dave Lavery, Dean Kamen, and the regular FIRST VIPs. I also really, REALLY hope Steve Wozniac is there again, he was there last year, I even put in a request to meet him, but never did.

I've skipped around in my four years of FIRST... and next year will be starting the chaos all over again. In Atlanta, you can find me either in a volunteer shirt, or in a 71 shirt. Or maybe, to make it harder on everyone, I'll wear Slash Kamen's 'hairpiece', some sunglasses, and the Limited Edition Autographed Lavery Hawaiian Shirt that was my birthday present last year. :)

Adrienne is definitely right on this one, Ken Patton is way cooler than John. So replace all of those JVN's on your lists with Ken Patton (65 mentor). Much cooler, much MUCH cooler than John. Johns coolness falls below that of me, and trust me, I'm not that cool. ;)

I have to agree, especially after this...

Last summer, at the IRI, I had these drawings for a new 2 speed gearbox that I had designed. I had worked on it for like almost 2 hours, so it was really awesome and stuff. Anyway, I laid the plans down to go do some real important IRI stuff, and when I came back they were gone. So I figured, Baker took them and was going to put that AndyMark logo on 'em or something. But Whoa - was I surprised, when I see pictures of 229's robot on CD and MY gearboxes are on there - and JVN is telling everyone that he designed them!

Now, to top it all off, we may end up next to him in the pits in Atlanta! I'm not sure how to deal with this. :)

Whoa! Someone actually wants to meet me? I've always felt sorry for the poor people I've chased down to meet at events :p.

It's too bad people won't get to meet Travis, Kirk, Justin, or Kevin from 968 at Nationals this year. We're all missing out not having them, and many others, attend The Championship solely due to the fact that they couldn't find the necessary cash to pay for the registration fee.

I'm going to be REALLY busy this year, so to increase the amount of people who a I meet, I'm hosting a new challenge. The first TWO people who I have never met before that come to me will receive a retired, limited edition rubber Sparky 384 key chain. They are a blue circle of rubbery plastic about 2 inches in diameter, with the sparky logo smack dab in the middle with out team name and school. Just find me in the pits/stands/anywhere and I'll give you a key chain!

Hey now!! If any one is gonna sell my brother, it's gonna be me. And vice versa.

my parents are also coming down this year, so they'll finally be able to meet all the people who we talk to online and who's houses we go to. Or who stays at our house (granted they have met them, once or twice:D )

Now, I do have a cell phone ( and Brandon has my #;) ) so anyone who really really needs me could use that.

And Mrs. K, looks like I'll be telling other chaperones where I'm going:p

anyone who went to UCF I want to meet and if your are involved in scouting for any team come to 1251's pit and look at our scouting system and also tell me what you do for scouting because I'm always looking for new ideas to give to one of my mentors to add to the scouting program
