So how are you getting to Atlanta?

With the Championship less only 10 days away, how are you going to get there? Here's some choices:
  • Walking all the way!
  • Better charge the batteries, it's Segway time!
  • The wheels on the bus are goin' round and round, to ATL, to ATL!
  • Amtrak, becuase I always loved cross-country train trips!
  • Got car, will drive
  • Flying. How else?
  • Atlanta? What's Atlanta? AM I MISSING SOMETHING?

I'll post mine later! :)

Re: So how are you getting to Atlanta?

Due to a miscommunication, our team is split going to Atlanta.

First group: Flying out of here around 3:00 PM Wednesday, they'll probably get there around 11 PM or so.

Second group (with me): Flying out at 12:45 AM Thursday, getting there around 10:30 AM. I hate the redeye :(

Were taking the "Wildkat" bus Wed. morning around 6 or 7 I would guess. We should get there by early evening.

Wetzel 10-04-2005 20:48

I think I might know what is going on. I could be wrong.

I *think* I am riding with 116 on their team bus. :/
Still unsure where I am sleeping Wednesday->Friday.

Re: So how are you getting to Atlanta?

we are flying down to ATL. and a few of us (myself included) will be boarding the plane with our luggage so that we don't have to wait for our luggage so we can go unpack the crate since our plane leaves here at 5:30 and will arrive around 7-8? so that doesn't leave us much time to unpack.

Team 237 will be taking a bus to LaGuardia Airport in NYC and then flying out Wednesday afternoon on Air Tran to Atlanta. We will be flying back Sunday to LaGuardia Airport and taking a bus back to Watertown.

1006 is driving... some of us are leaving wednesday morning bright and early, the rest of the team is leaving wednesday after school. 18 hours of team bonding, goody! Haha, it should be interesting to say the least...

I get to get up nice and early, leave my house around 3:00 AM so I can be at San Francisco Intl. by 4:00 AM.

I'm flying United, San Fran-Chicago O'Hare-Atlanta. As luck would have it I'm on the same flight as RAGE from O'Hare to Atlanta.

Re: So how are you getting to Atlanta?

I'm flying down, randomly, we all promise it wasn't planned, that I'm on the same plane Cory is on which is the same plane Rage [173] is on from Chicago -> Atlanta... That will be interesting.

Re: So how are you getting to Atlanta?

Alright I'll post mine now. I'm going to be driving down to Atlanta via I-95 (along with a bunch of the team's supplies!) on Sunday or Monday, and will be stopping at Washington DC for a day or two to do some touristing. The cherry blossoms should still be in bloom, and the Smithsonian should be fun. Almost everyone else from 228 will be flying down from LaGuardia with 1071 Max on Wednesday morning.

Just kinda curious, is anyone not flying/taking a bus?

KTorak 11-04-2005 16:49

Re: So how are you getting to Atlanta?

Flying on Delta Airlines: Departs Detroit Metro Airport at 5:34 PM, Arrives in Hartsfield Intenational at 7:34 PM. (Not bad for $218 round-trip - Flight home is 11:35 AM - 1:35 PM)

I'm not going to school Wednesday even though I could get out at the normal 2:25 PM and make it to the airport by 3:30 PM to make the 2 hour suggested arrival time, but... I figure I might as well get as much sleep as possible because I probably won't get much, if any, in Atlanta.

Not just a coach bus- a packed coach bus with team 1089 and a load of gear.

On the trip back from SC we had a bus accident. Who knows what will happen this time?

We will be arriving at Atlanta Hartsfield Wednesday at 4:25 PM on AirTran. I remember seeing several other teams at the airport last year when we arrived (though I don't remember who they were now.) Any other teams arriving at about the same time that we can be on the lookout for?

Bus. Always entertaining, as we take the last 3-4 years of robot batteries and use them to power the laptops! Pulp Fiction for all!

Dorienne 11-04-2005 19:18

Re: So how are you getting to Atlanta?

Weeeee...
Are taking a coach bus.
I am dreading this trip, to be honest. I'll be on a bus, with only 4-5 other girls besides myself, and...20, count 'em, 20 guys. AAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!!!!! >_<; Wish me luck, people. Pranks will be roaming the bus.

I'm making sure I buy an iPod mini for myself and download every song I can get my hands on beforehand. Growl, that's going on my list for the weekend things to do.

:ahh: :ahh:

I don't quite count as a team, but my flight should be arriving in at around 4:05..and in theory I'm wearing bright yellow.

Unfortunately, this year I will be getting to Atlanta via Internet and computer, and also by phone communications.

I am breaking my 5 year in a row Championship attendance this year.

SO disappointed! :(

Greg, Myself, Dez, and all of RAGE arrive at 4:45. We're in Terminal T. Looks like you're in C, so we might see each other in baggage claim.

I don't think you'll have any trouble spotting us :p

Cooney Quest (#269) is flying in from Milwaukee to Atlanta around 9:30 Wednesday night.

I am leaving Madison, WI (with a load of 269 gear) around 1 on Wednesday...meeting the rest of my "entourage" (guess who that could be) in Indianapolis and then we are off. Getting into Atlanta early Thursday morning.

Im leaving West Lafayette at 3am Thursday to get to the airport, Flying out of Indianapolis on AirTran at 6am, landing at 8:40 (losing an hr because of the time change), get off the plane, run to the MARTA station, take the train to the hotel, drop off the bags, get back to the MARTA, take it to the Georgia Dome and hopefully get there before practice matches start.

AirTran has some good last minute sales but I think they have to be purchased by April 4, 2006. Check the web for good last minute deals.

What kind of bus?
How much does it cost (roughly)?

Bus from Merrimack to Boston then Delta flight from there to Atlanta.

Re: So how are you getting to Atlanta?

oh, team 175 is so boring this year. We are flying out of Bradley at like 10:30 am Wednesday and flying back at like 10:30 am on Sunday. Last year we had to get up at 4:00 (or something like that) to get the flight home on Sunday. It was terrifying. When I woke our human player up... well let's just say there was profanity. It'll be nice not to get up at the crack of dawn this year. :)

KTorak 02-04-2006 01:30

Re: So how are you getting to Atlanta?

I flew last year, but i'm road tripping it with my Grand Cherokee this year. Most likely leaving aound 5am Wednesday for the 10 hour drive and leaving Atlanta around 7am Sunday. However, I may be leaving Tuesday in the late morning if my dad goes down earlier for work.

charter bus for 1038 as well. we always take a charter, same charter, same bus, same driver...we just always switch the hotels and students lol. yay for 10/11 hours on a BUS!

47 passenger charter (intercity Greyhound-type). Costs roughly $7000. Flying 30 people would be a few thousand more - and we had the possibility of 40+ people going this year. One benefit is that you have the bus available in Atlanta if you need it.

Joe J. 02-04-2006 21:08

Flying in on Wednesday on Delta.
Meeting up with my old team, 86, that night. They are taking a bus up.

Dillon Compton 02-04-2006 21:25

Re: So how are you getting to Atlanta?

15 passenger van, only the core students and mentors going.

Myself and one of our college students may be driving a truck down with some gear, leaving another mentor or two (hopefully two) to drive the van.

Unsure about hotel accomodations, but it'll be nice to be able to drive our stuff to the dome, rather than walking ~8 blocks with it (and Atlanta blocks are larger and hillier than philly blocks!).

Pat Fairbank 02-04-2006 22:37
