Galileo Division

Galileo This a thread for all of us Galileo teams! This looks like a pretty good division, and there are 5 Canadian teams!

Re: Galileo Teams

I see Galileo teams winning it all.. but thats just a guess.

The team line up is crazy, the top 8 teams I Think are going to be undefeated or only lose 1 match. I cant wait to see all of you in the Pits, and remember that If you need anything drop by the MOE 365 pit and ask. Just look for the 30ft green tower..

Good luck to everyone whos going.

Not only 5 Canadian Teams, but a dual Champion in 1305 Near North. One of three dual Champions in the Division, along with 68 Pontiac MI, and 126 Clinton MA. A lot of DEEP playoff experience in Gali-LEO!

According to Karthik's analysis, we are the second strongest division. I do not see as many undefeated teams as Kyle does, but anything can happen. Whatever happens, it should be fun!

Oh, and we're in the same division as MOE again! Woo!

56 is tops but 103 is just as good. I wonder what the other regional teams will bring.

Yea Galileo!!!

This division is going to rock. I see so many top teams from the NJ regional.. 25, 56, 75, 103, 237, 1089, & 1403. We can definitely put out a really top alliance. Can't wait to see you all there!

I was at both regionals, so I can tell you that 56 and 103 were the two really scary teams among those that went to Philly and/or Trenton. I don't know about the teams from other regions, but I'd put money on one or both of these teams winning the division.

Looks like we have a great division. Looks like 114 is going to be next to Cybersonics in the pits for the second year in a row.

Another star team in our division that hasn't been mentioned yet is 254. They were dominant at Sacromento and Silicon Valley. Look foreward to seeing everyone at Atlanta, I think our division has a good shot at the Championship.

After having a night to reflect on it, if we have 8 matches per team, I think there will be 2 or 3 undefeated teams, and the remainder of the top 8 will have 1 loss. If we have 10 matches per team, only 1 will be undefeated and the 8th team will only have 8 wins (2 losses or ties). This division is too deep with talent to expect any team to easily remain undefeated.

Do not be surprised if the lower 4 alliances "upset" the top four alliances in the playoffs (as happened in Philly a few years back). This depth of talent ensures that the playoff alliances will not only be very strong, but also very equal. Scouting will have a difficult task placing teams in the preferred order to choose partners in the playoffs, because we will have about 5-6 very elite robots, followed by about 18-20 top tier robots.

One thing's for sure . . .

Yeah - wasn't that Stack Attack and the top four all lost in the quarters and semis? I was thinking that there are so many really good teams in Galileo (and Archimedes, for that matter) that it might be hard to put together one truly dominant alliance. I figure there are the makings of at least three great alliances. The best part is: that should make for some outstanding matches throughout the week.

In all the years I've been watching competitions, I've yet to see a robot talk trash. Maybe there's a lesson there? :D

Or maybe the lesson is Archimedes should bring earplugs, because Galileo is going to

Thanks for nice comments on 56 we are starting to get sick of goin up against 103 this is the third comp we hafta see them (still never played a match with them just against) lol, team 237 our nj partners were amazing are in there, our other great friends from 25 will be hanging out with us at a second comp, of coarse our winning alliance partners from philly BOTH 365 and 316 will be in there, and i think we are the only team that not only had the pleasure of goin up against these great teams but also 254 out at the sacramento regional i have heard they have gotten better since then and thats definately scary they were awsome partners in qualifying rounds cant wait to see all these teams again. should be an amazing competition and one great time.

P.S.
look out for the sombrero its packed in the crate and now sittin in ATLANTA come over and say hi ill prob be around the 56 pit most the time, and i cant wait for the 1 on 1 team 56 vs team 237 challange!!!!

Well I would be interested in seeing Karthik's analysis because we are coming up with this same thing here in Michigan. Ours is based on the depth of good scoring robotics per division. Ya, ya, I know this is flawed since we all know defense wins championships. See you all in Atlanta and best of luck!

I'm not sure Karthik's paper analyzes anything. His spreadsheet is just the overall results from the combined regionals. He reported the statistics for each division -- which is not a conclusatory statement -- merely facts. Teams are free to interpret or analyze those results as they wish, but Karthik drew no conclusions that I remember.

Correct. It is an organized set of data from which you can draw your own conclusions, but it is not an analysis in and of itself.

edit: unless I am unaware of something else Karthik has done...

First, haven't you already had an outstanding season? Whatever happens at the Championship should be icing on the cake. Just go for the experience and have fun!

Also, from what we saw in Trenton, I doubt that you have to worry about doing poorly! Cold Fusion played a smart game there to earn your medals, as I believe you did at VCU; you can do the same in Atlanta.

Congratualtions to Robbe Extreme (56). You showed what serious scouting at the Championship level can to do put together a powerhouse alliance. It was immediately apparent after alliance pairing that you were the alliance to beat. You were a great representative from Galileo, and you deserved to play for the Championship.

Also "Thanks" to the Cheesy Poofs (254), another serious scouting team from Galileo, for the scout sheet you provided to us. We will use it to review our own efforts and hopefully make improvements to our system.

Finally, a big "Thank-You" to all the Galileo teams who were serious about scouting. You were a great credit not only to your teams , but to the Galileo Division and all of FIRST. You did the homework necessary to put together your own "powerhouse" alliance, should you be in a picking position. I greatly appreciate the time you spent preparing your team for the playoffs.

"Win, Lose or Tie, but do it in a way that FIRSTERS will be talking about for years to come!"
