ChiefDelphi armband's
Well with all this talk on how we could make CD a better place with donating money, fundraisers, etc, etc. As i was sitting here i was looking at my arm and i wear one of those livestrong bracelets and these things are the new fade. So i was thinking why not Chiefdelphi armbands? You get them custom made with color and whatever saying you want. So you could get orange ones with whatever chiefdelphi saying you want. They could say like Chiefdelphi poster or something to that effect. WE could even come up with a contest for what to put on them.
Here is the link So what do you think? |
Re: ChiefDelphi armband's

Re: ChiefDelphi armband's
There's a pricing schedule there, 2.50 for 40-120, 2.00 for 140-240, 1.50 for 260-2500, 1.25 for 2520+. You have to order in lots of 20. All told, I don't think it'd be an effective fundraiser for CD. FIRST has said teams can't do fundraisers at competitions, so that leaves all the work to be done either at off-season comps, or here on CD. If here, someone has to devote time and effort to packaging and mailing out a LOT of bands. And you have atleast 1.50+postage taken out of any profits going to CD. If we really want to support CD, I think pure donation is the best route. Anyone actually wanting to support CD won't withhold a donation because they aren't going to get a little rubber band.

First of all, GREAT IDEA Riri. I will buy some bands now... I didn't know that you were smart enough to come up with ideas like this. :p |
Re: ChiefDelphi armband's
Yeah I noticed that the band were starting to become a big thing. I was also looking into them myself.. these seem to be the cheapest that I've seen. So Thanks for the link.

Re: ChiefDelphi armband's
I'm not much into joining in fads, but it wasn't a bad idea. However, aren't most of those bands supposed to be for good causes, and wearing one shows that your support their cause? Don't want to be a buzzkill, but some people might think wearing them just for the sake of wearing them as a fad diminishes their meaning.
Of course you were simply thinking outside the box, so I applaud the idea anyhow. |

Every one of these bands that pops up is working directly against LAF. They weren't meant to be a fasion statement, they were meant to provide money for cancer research. The sad thing is 3rd party retailers are now making a fortune by reselling them to the public at a 500-1000% markup, of which LAF sees zero profit. |
Re: ChiefDelphi armband's
I <3 armbands!!! Awesome idea :D
|
Re: ChiefDelphi armband's
I would have to agree with everything that has been said so far. It was a really good idea, but it would be bad to degrade what the LAF has been doing. I think that, if they are going to be sold, FIRST should sell them to anyone who wants one, spectators, teams, mentors, judges, etc. That way they could use the money for the cause that they have taken up, inspiring our future engineers. But thats just me. If teams want to give them out, that is their choice.

Re: ChiefDelphi armband's
great idea, i'd get a few. But one teeny wheeny problem that i found out at new jersey conserning safety in the pits with 56 giving out the same thing. They can get caught in machinery and be a hazard in locations like the pits, so wear them at your own risk.
