New Yorkers,
In July I'll be going to a Dave Matthews Band concert at Randall's Island in New York. I was wondering if you could tell me a little about the area surrounding Randall's Island and where I should stay; I'd like a hotel as close to the island as possible. Thanks!

PS: Anyone else going?

Randall's Island is in the East River between Manhattan and Queens and is accessible only from the Triborough Bridge. There is no train access to the island, as it's uninhabited, though there is limited bus access. If you're driving, anything close to the Grand Central Parkway in Queens or near 125th St. in Manhattan will put you close to the approaches to the Triborough Bridge. Keep in mind that 125th St. is the heart of Harlem and not always a great area to be. I'm not sure of what things are like on the Queens side.
