Magic The Gathering

Hey I just wanted to know how many play Magic The Gathering within the FIRST teams that are going to Florida this year. I think it would be cool if we could organize some sort of tournament. Anyways, I'm also just interested if anyone plays within FIRST.

mike pawlak 15-04-2002 23:10

i wish i could be there, i have a really fun deck. oh well. i hope you do have a turnie, if you do i want stats. hey maybe you could get it dci sanctioned.

Wetzel 16-04-2002 01:12

I was really good when I played. I should go reassemble my decks. They have been gathering dust for the past year or two...
Think it will hurt that I havn't bought any new cards in the past 4-6 years? As in, are the cards getting stronger, weaker, or staying basicly the same strength?

I'm just starting to learn, my brothers are teaching my sister and I. I would like to play, just for the hell of it, but I don't think my deck is that great :D

Chubtoad 16-04-2002 06:54

I Haven't played in like 3 years or more! But I used to be big into it, as you can see by my name!

Jon Lawton 16-04-2002 23:23

I stopped playing years ago due to a lack of people to play with. :( I'd be willing to haul out my cards and try to assemble a deck if somone wanted to play, though! I really liked that...

SkitzoSmurf 16-04-2002 23:31

yeah i saw a few people playing outside last year, and its not too popular here either, but if you go to the right places it is. yeah chuck a deck together, and well see what happens

D.J. Fluck 17-04-2002 11:29

About 5 years ago I played magic.....but well i sold all my cards for cash....oh well too bad

Mark Hamilton 17-04-2002 20:46

I would play but my decks were stolen (here at school we used to play all the time, many of us won tournaments around town). And Wetzel, the strategies availble to you with the new card sets are much different, and anyone who hasnt bough since at least Mercadian Masques will be at a huge disadvantage. Overall newer decks tend to be much faster then say Urza's block decks. My green weenie deck was famous for its 3rd or fourth turn kill.

JillyJillBill 17-04-2002 21:48

Screw Urza's Saga, try 4th edition :)

Justin 188 18-04-2002 00:13

Urza's Saga? Mercadian Masques?

I guess I'm old school... when I stopped playing the newest cards I had were from Tempest and Stronghold...

Btw how are Goblin decks nowadays?

Old age has it's memories

Chubtoad 18-04-2002 09:53

Yeah I got out right when they released Tempest. I have one or two decks still made, I never reorganized them. My decks suck though, I never made good ones, but then there are people that can play with ANY deck and kick @$$. it's crazy man. If anyone is actually interested in playing, I'll bring a few decks and spare cards and we can set something up. I think I'm staying in All Star Music. !!
CAN"T WAIT 6 MORE DAYS!!! (we're getting there wednesday)

purplehaze357 18-04-2002 09:59

wow..magic...its been forever since ive heard those words....i havent played in like a year and a half...it got old real-quick...but my white deck is kickin....

David Kelly 18-04-2002 10:03

i sold all my cards about 5 years ago. i shouldn't have because i had some cards that were worth some money

Justin 188 19-04-2002 16:35

Lol Wetzel!

SkitzoSmurf 20-04-2002 12:31

U R WAY BEHIND

Ok, for those of you that stopped playing around tempest and stronhold, there have been a wikked lot more of new sets. Urzas Destiny, and Urza's Legacy, Mercadian Masques, Nemesis, Prophecy, Invasion, Planeshift, Apocolypse, Odyssey, and Torment. I quit playing for a while too, but I picked it up again. It's still alot of fun, I think.

purplehaze357 20-04-2002 12:45

maybe so but all the new rules are retarded...and the new sets dont have the same effect the old ones did

Wetzel 20-04-2002 23:54

Bought a turnament pack at the mall today of the Odessy series.
I'm gonna take a look at it and see whats up with these card.
One was shinny!! What is with these newfangled cards....

its called "foil" it has no purpose but to look good...its the imac of magic cards... :D ...

wetzel i think your going to be dissapointed with the new cards...ima stick to the old school...

Rob Ribaudo 21-04-2002 05:37

I never played Magic. The only card games that I played were Pokemon and Digimon. That was a few years ago. Everyone in a while, if I see a new set of cards I don't have, I like to get them so I can have at a few cards from every set. Still have all my cards and they are pretty good. If anyone else has Pokemon or Digimon cards bring them to Florida and try to find the scouter from team 810 who is wearing a vest that should get covered in buttons. I also would be in the stands cheering on my team (810)

Katie Reynolds 21-04-2002 10:26

Oh wow - I quit playing about ... 5 years ago! My deck is old school - 3rd edition ha! I haven't played since then. I still have my deck though. Actually I was looking at it the other day and thinking about picking up the game again. My deck was decent when I played, but it wasn't spectacular. ::shrugs:: Oh well, I"ll bring it anyway :) Maybe I can find someone that plays back at the hotel (Best Western in Lake Buena Vista)! ;)

Hmm, same here. I feel rather old. I had a ton of cards, but when the popularity of the game took a nosedive in Boston, the decks got shoved to the back of a bookcase. Still have 'em, but they haven't made the move to Tennessee yet.

Justin 188 23-04-2002 01:41

Yeah I entirely agree that the new cards (some of them are pretty wicked) still don't have the same effect as the old ones. Thats partially why I stopped playing, cuz I was too broke to buy more old cards :D

And Lightning bolts all the way ;)

Dave_222 23-04-2002 13:20

I stoped playing last year most of my cards were from a beat down box so i just gave them away. I had an awsome white and green deak and a prety good rainbow deak but u know it changes too fast. New cards come out new editions come out. I got lost. d&d has been around 30 or 40 years and its only 3rd edition.

Wetzel 24-04-2002 15:05

I talked to a guy at a store that is hardcore into it. Apparently, my time dilation trick has been banned...

Time for new tricks
