Pff. We've got 22 hours and I know some teams have it worse. I'm going to stay up late so I'm tired tomorrow and sleep most of the way.

We have an ultra red-eye. We leave LAX at 12:40 AM Thursday. We go to Minneapolis for a one hour layover, then go to Atlanta. We arrive at about 10:40. It will be a race to get to the webhug; I'm only carrying on.

A bus ride from here would probably be around 35 hours.

So what does everyone plan to do on that long long bus ride? I remember last year someone had a nice Xbox and tv set up on the bus, that was very innovative.

We fly out at 12:17PM tomorrow and get into Atlanta around 3:38PM. Just in time to make it to the WATSON challenge. ( http://www.chiefdelphi.com/forums/sh...7&page=2&pp=15 )

See you all there,

I'll wave as I fly over. Just be glad it isn't Houston. Leave T.O. 9:30 arrive 11:40. Must admit it's better than the bus. However the bus is way better than staying home. See you all there.

I'll wave as well. Norfolk to Atlanta Non-stop. 12 hours by bus versus 2 hr plane. I'll take the plane.

O.K. Out of curiosity, how in the world did discussion about flying to Atalanta get into a thread about riding a bus down there?

About 27 hours away from the bus trip to Atlanta, and I still have not gotten a bottle of Mountain Dew for the long trip.

It depends on the people! Some people are worth spending 12 hours with, no matter what the transportation (heck, I'd spend 12 hours on a bicycle with Dean any day!)

In defense of all those taking the bus (I'm flying), it's not just two hours. It's getting to the airport, waiting in the airport, waiting in the other airport for your luggage, getting into Atlanta from the airport. Plus, how is everyone getting all their gear there? My trip is 2 hours by plane, but "travel" time is 6-7 hours.

Team 772 is now IN ATLANTA!!! I can see the Georgia dome from my room! And the most glorious thing of all... the Fairfield Inn has WiFi. I'd have pictures and stuff but, we're going to the mall in about 15 minutes so I'll do it after...

For the reference of those coming from Canada, we left Windsor at 4:30 AM (in vans), we were through the border by 5:30 and we arrived in Atlanta at 6:00 PM. We have a second group of people driving up tomorrow.

Yes, it's arriving at the airport parking place by 6:15am, at the airport by 6:30am for gorup check-in, flight doesn't leave til 8; long layover in Chicago; arrive in Atlanta by 5pm; hotel by 6? So 12 hours for us, even by plane! (and picture this - our plane leaves Atlanta on Sunday morning at 6:30ish!)

Getting back to the comparing of trips...

Twelve hour bus ride ahead of me, leaving at 6:30 tomorrow morning. It might not be quite as nice as flying, but we'll survive. At least we get to go. :)

OK. Maybe it's not just to gloat. :o I guess one-up-man-ship, I'll-see-your-tale-of-woe-and-raise-you works too. :p

Our team has a 14 hour bus ride, and we're leaving Pontiac at about 4:50 in the morning tomorrow... I like that, since it makes half the bus ride to Atlanta sleepy-time for me. What could I do for the other 7 hours? I wish I knew. :o

We arrive in Atlanta at about 7:00 PM Wednesday Night.

Re: The bus leaves tomorrow!

Two hour and half to three hour bus ride from Windsor Locks to New York City depending on traffic. Two to two half hour wait at airport. Then two and half hour plane flight to Atlanta can't wait. :yikes: :p

petek 19-04-2005 20:50

Re: The bus leaves tomorrow!

Then there are those of us who see the bus ride as 14 hours of no:
rushing,
dealing with imaginary crisis,
one making their problems my problems,
dealing with real crisis (knock wood),
security checkpoints,

and it's 14 hours spent with some of my closest friends at their upbeat and optimistic best.

Now tell me again: why would I want to fly to Atlanta?

Boarding the bus in nine hours,

Re: The bus leaves tomorrow!

because our bus is leaving so early... most of our team is just staying up all night, and then we can sleep on the bus for most of the 15 hours.

Re: The bus leaves tomorrow!

The bus to take us to the airport is leaving in one hour. Therefore, We're twidling thumbs for now. 2 hours to the airport, 2 hour wait, 2 hour flight, one hour to the hotel. Ten hours to ATL.
