The Webcasts

I know the webcast is mentioned in another thread, but I thought I'd start this one to discuss the interesting things happening on the webcasts for those of us who are stuck at home. The most amusing things I've seen on the webcasts so far are the random things that keep coming in front of the Newton camera (people's rear ends, robots...) and on the Curie cam, they were doing this ripple effect for about three minutes that was kinda making me dizzy lol. Anyone else see amusing things happening on the webcasts?

Yeah I guess they're prepping for tomorrow.
The other thing that I think is REALLY cool is that they've started showing VEX matches!
It looks REALLY cool! For those who havent yet, check out the VEX field cam!
It looks like they're playing a modified version of 2004's First FRENZY!
Wow! That's a cool looking miniature field!
Anyway, check it out!
;)

Funniest thing I've seen so far?

2 wheels fall off a vex robot :yikes:

I also saw a guy in the front row of Curie put his arm around another guy, and the other guy quickly pushed it off.

Re: The Webcasts

Can anybody get the webcasts today? I get an error saying RealPlayer cannot locate the server, and that it does not have DNS entry. Anyone else getting this?

I think you may be a bit confused. I'm looking at the CD WFA regional candidates and I don't even see him as a nominee. Are you sure he didn't win something else?

Re: The Webcasts

The webcasts are in RealMedia format, so you have to use RealPlayer. There is a link on the NASA website to the player's home page, or go to www.real.com and download the free player. Don't be fooled by their attempt to give you the 'premium' service - it is not worth it in my oppinion.

I am also having a problem with the video feed - the same DNS error. I think it has something to do with the proxy server is set up here where I work. And it really sux because the feeds are cut by the time I get home. No nationals for me. :(

He was probably a WFA regional award winner for 2004.
WFA at the Championship event is a compilation of entries from 2 years.

He won a regional WFA last year, and FIRST extended the rules for recieving the WFA to those that won within 2 years of nationals. so everyone who won last year and this years was eligible for it.

I stand corrected. Congrats Paul, great choice!

Between last minute preperations for my bands show tonight i've been watching matches, lots of great stuff. Mostly been watching Curie and Newton, but i've watched a few vex and fll matches.
Its no replacement for being there, but it'll do for now.

Some of the announcers/MC's need to work on turning off their mics.
hahah
