Baltimore Orioles

Well, who (besides us Oriole fans of course) expected the Orioles to be in 1st in the AL East right now? Not only that, but for their 2nd baseman, who had never hit more than 5 HR in a season before, to be tied for the lead in HR (7), T3rd in the majors in SB, 4th in the AL in Batting AVG, T2nd in the AL in RBI, and to be 2nd in the majors in hits?
Besides the greatness of Brian Roberts this season, Tejada is having another terrific year, with a major league leading 22 RBI. The Orioles are 1st in the AL in batting avg, hitting .292. They are 2nd in the AL in runs, 1 behind Boston (107) with 106. Not to mention, they are tops in HR, with 26, which is especially astounding considering they didnt have a ton of power in 2004.
Yet, the most amazing part of the Orioles so far is their pitching. Only the astounding Marlins staff has more complete games. Despite a couple rocky starts for Sidney Ponson, Erik Bedard, and Daniel Cabrera, the three have appeared to settle down and along with ace Rodrigo Lopez, who is doing very well so far, are giving the Orioles a very potent rotation. Bruce Chen has been doing acceptably for the 5th man of the rotation.

I'm an Oriole fan (go figure, I live in BALTIMORE), and I didn't even expect them to bounce back! I figured it'd be just another year...though I did defend them everytime someone criticized them..not saying names..<cough>RJ 173</cough> But it was still a shock. I'm happy! No complaints here.

GO ORIOLES!

Detroit Tigers > *.*

It's not too fun when you know the Lions are going to win the super bowl - don't want to be winning ALL the major sport awards out there...

;) :D

A wise person once said "One man's trash could be another man's treasure." AKA, Mr. Sosa.

Enjoy him and I hope he has a few more good years under his belt...he wouldn't have done much good for his career by staying in Chicago.

Give them a month, they'll be back at the bottom of the AL East next to the Devil Rays ;)

Forget about the AL....Go Cubs :p

Oh not to mention names, but Dori the Bronx Bombers will bounce back and reclaim the AL east. GO Yankees!!!!!!!

Yeah unfortunately it's a long season and you know some small market team is going to have a garage sale soon and the Yankees will be the only one buying and will bounce back. Baseball needs a salary cap in the worst way!

Never say never about the Orioles...

I was born and raised there and saw some their greats play (both robinsons, powell, andy E. , Jim Palmer , Mcnally etc. even saw the 71 world series in memorial stadium.

like i said..never say never...remember a lot of people (mainly Yankees fans)
said Boston would never win the series again.
