Re: Team Numbers in Everyday Places
1027, your number seems to be stalking me or something, it's everywhere I go. I keep finding myself(or several times, the people in front of me in line) buying things that cost $10.27, I've looked at my watch at 10:27 almost every time it shows up on my watch lately(not intentionally either), and I started my presentation today in English at exactly 10:27. It's a little scary, actually...

$2.17 $2.29 $2.37 (maybe wrong bout this one, but definitely sure about the other 2) all at the same gas station, all those teams, btw, wen to FLR, it was freaky. |

Re: Team Numbers in Everyday Places
Yes. It's rather funny...I'll be walking down the hall at my school and noting which teams match the numbers. Ex 126 where we host meetings is Gael Force.
716 doesn't come up all that often except in phone numbers and it also happens to be the minimun average you can have (if you're taking 8 classes on a 100 point system) and still make high honor roll at a 90 overall average (it's rounded up). Also, I see team numbers in the gas prices and area codes. |
Re: Team Numbers in Everyday Places
Ya, I would say this year I seen 322 just about every where before the Regionals. When I was at work I seen a few scores of 322 a few times ( I work for a Laser Storm Arena in Mt. Morris, Mich.). Lets see went to McDonalds a few times and my total was $3.22, I thought that was Strange in a way, I had a order number of 322 at a taco bell, I would really hate to see gas at $3.22. The day we left to go to Atlanta this year, I was at a store in an airport to buy some things, guess what the total was $3.22. :ahh:

Here is something that would be cool to see: someone's actual phone number which combines three FIRST team numbers.
For example: 716-461-1114 and... better yet, have that person be involved in FIRST. Andy B. |

The irony of this absolutely frightened me yesterday. As I was driving my car back from an athletic club, I was travelling down highway 16 (Bomb Squad) when I glanced at my clock to check the time, 2:34 p.m. (Cyber Blue) and as I looked up, I passed exit #179 (Swamp Thing).
And the whole time, I was wearing my Cyber Blue t-shirt! |

Recently I've been using (team name)-th a lot in school. And I just realized that after the bell rings in the afternoon, I go by fire alarm #47, down the stairs, out the door, past bus #47, and then to my bus.
I also instinctively notice any familiar team number now. I regard this as being officially addicted to FIRST. Edit: Hey, look! My ChiefDelphi-th post! :D |

At the chinese restaraunt in the omni center, if you order combo #2 (two sides and fried rice) with a medium coke and pay with a $10 bill, your change will come out to $3.22.
Before leaving for Atlanta last year, I bought a magazine and gum in the Airport and my change was 71 cents. This year at the same airport store, my change came up to $3.31 (one cent off)... craaaaazy how the nats champion is predicted with both of these purchases. |

Re: Team Numbers in Everyday Places
Seeing how my husband runs team 234 and I run team 393, I am always trying to find my number. However, when it comes to hotel rooms, there is never a 393, but always a 234! When I look at the clock, I tend to look at it when it is 2:34! THERE IS NO 3:93! In the county next to ours, there is a state road 234! The only thing I can find with my number is a vending machine phone number in Tampa, FL (i have a picture of it!!) where the last three numbers were 393...and the Wendy's restaurant in Greenfield, IN is store number 393.
Trust me...there are a MILLION 234s out there!! :) |
Re: Team Numbers in Everyday Places
Hi Libby,
here's a funny one to tell your husband. Since you're feeling "left-out" that there are not too many examples of real-life "393", here's a thought. I bought a book several years ago titled "The secret language of birthdays". It's a combination of astrology, numerology, tarot, and "people-ology"..those born on your birthday. So, if I do the numerology on your team name: 3+9+3=15 1+5=6 Six (6) is the devil's number......maybe that's why you and your husband coach separate teams.....ha, ha, ha...Just having some fun with numbers. Keep looking for that elusive "393". Maybe you'l find it in a fortune cookie like all those people recently that won the same PowerBall number..... And lastly...may the "power of the numbers" be with you and your family during this time in your lives; our thoughts are with you all..... ADDED: I went and re-read your "thank you" thread. Want some even weirder "numbers"? Your family's accident occurred on 4/8/2005. 4+8=12 1+2=3....there's lots of good examples of three a) god, country and FIRST b) mother, father, children c) build, compete, win d) teach, mentor, learn have a good one.................................... |
Re: Team Numbers in Everyday Places
I found this while looking online, after being told about it at nationals during the Vex dinner.
1. Pick any three digit number. (ie 123) 2. Reverse that number. (ie 321) 3. Subract the smaller number from the larger number. (ie 321-123 = 198) 4. Reverse the answer. (ie 891) 5. Add that number to the unreversed number. (ie 198 + 981) 6. The answer will be...1089!!! Also, another random fact. 33^2 = 1089. Enjoy these little random facts. ^_^ |

With 1.59 being a low number with a 9 in the cents digit for money, there are often items at fast food restaurants that are $1.59. The most recent thing I bought was a 40oz Slurpee for $1.59.
During my freshman year, gas was around $1.59, and our team kept getting excited about that. Below is a picture taken of one of these from out the bus window on the way back from the Championship. I wish it still cost that much! |

As a member of Niagara first, I happened to be in Niagara Falls to see a movie and when I walked into the actual theater I heard "GREER", I assume it was members of 1503. Oddly enough right at the end of the movie there was a clock with the time that read 11:14. I just laughed. Also when we were on the bus to Atlanta a red chevy truck passes us. I looked at the plate on it and it simply read...."1114" thats all that was on the plate.

At Chelsea (Team 1502) we REALLY got close (but no cigar) with our
room number. The phone extension numbers at the school equal (1000 + room number). We meet and build in room 506, so we're extension 1506, not 1502. (SOOOOO close!)
