Cedar Point isn't exactly in the vacinity to Indiana... it's a good 6-7 hour drive from here, I think. But it is the best coaster park hands down.

For those parents/engineers that REALLY, REALLY want to come to IRI, have small children, and need a way to entertain them while the event is going on, one option (albeit expensive) is the Indianapolis Holiday Inn Caribbean Cove at the Pyramids. It is literally right off the expressway, has a waterpark inside (with slides that extend outside the hotel, very cool), and is, from what I can tell, the next best thing to Disney World (well, maybe, but you can tell your kids that). For older children, you may want to look at some of the different attractions in Indy, too. Look at some of the cool restaurants, the Indianapolis Zoo, the White River Gardens, or for a spouse and teenagers, keep 'em busy at the Circle Centre Mall- two blocks, and four floors of shopping.

Hopefully, this will be enough to get some of you guys (coughkressly and dillardcough) out here for the famous IRI. Whatever kinds of entertainment your family may decide on, just please remember my post about Indiana Beach in the 2003 IRI thread. Again, all I have to say is 'uggggggg'. ;)

Sweet...I'll have to pass that info onto our buddy EVK...although we may have to pull him out of there kickin' and screamin' (or hootin' and hollerin') to get him to make the DSK gig :ahh:

I would love to come to IRI, and my daughter who will be a senior next year would like to visit Purdue this summer.

I need to travel with my wife and 4 kids (our 5th is in college) from Florida. We would probably fly up to Cincinnati or Indianapolis the weekend before and fly out the Sunday afterwards (1 week trip).

Our 15 year old twins (boy and girl) have no desire to travel to the midwest - it doesn't sound like fun to them. Our other daughter is 9. I need to figure out how to sell this idea.

What is there to do in Indiana and vicinity (within a couple days travel) that we could plan for fun as a family?

I'm surprised nobody's mentioned this so far, but Chicago is only a 3-4 hour drive from Indy, depending on your starting point in Indy and your Chicago destination.

Chicago attractions include:
Six Flags Great America
Chicago Botanic Gardens
Zoos, Shopping, Lake Michigan, and Much more.

Thanks guys.

Rule changes are being evaluated - probably no major changes.

Dinner count due with payment. The IRI document has all the dates.

And, for real entertainment, we natives like to sit and watch the grass grow.

You could always go south. Louisville, KY is about 2-1/2 hours away from Indy. Cave City (Mamoth Cave National Park) is 1-1/2 hours south of Louisville.
My wife and son and his friend made that road trip last year- thought it was great!

Note on the Dinner Reservation $1.

The goal is to get teams to think accurately about how many will be there for dinner. We want to be able to plan for the right sized group.

We will have a few extra tickets available for purchase ($3 at the door).

If we gave you an estimate at registration, can we send in the updated number when we mail the check?
