I ride a 2002 Kona Lana'i for XC and i also road bike on the side. I just got it though at a yard sale for $20 but it's nice. It's a Nashbar Road 5000. But before the begining of summer, I hope to purchase a new bike...2005 Iron Horse Yakuza Aniki.

I guess you could call it a mountain bike.

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=2513014

Anyway, thats what I cycle around on when I find the time.

Price: $160 at Walmart!

I really use it as more of a road bike, but since I live in the Endless Mountain region of PA, the roads where I live are all up/down and left/right.

No flat places here :)
Sometimes I may take it for a spin in the wooded mountains all around my house.

I wish I had the time/places to "mountain" bike. Around here in the midwest it should be called "hill biking" or "really flat land biking". I've always liked riding bikes and I used to hike trails at state parks, when I had free time in my life. If I lived really close to somewhere decent to mountain bike I would probably go out every time the weather was nice.

As for the bike, my parents bought me a Gary Fisher Advance a couple years ago, thinking I would ride it around campus. I think I've been on it maybe one or two times since, and now it just collects dust in my dorm room.

Well not to affend you but a walmart bike isnt much of a mountain bike. i mean like real mountain biking...you know down hill and freeriding--thats what i do, and the occasional races. but yeh i tried unicycling and it turns out that 190lbs doesnt balance on them that well.

i trail-ride around my area. its hard to find a mountain when the highest elevation in the area is a garbage mound at the local dump (though there are some nice drops in the local parks, and the single track isn't to be frowned on). i ride a 2003 gary-fisher marlin. i spend more time on my bike than i do in my car.

If you click the link that bike doesn't actually look too bad. Sure its not the greatest, but it doesn't look horrible either. :)

Call me elitist, but anyone who considers themselves a mountain biker (or any kind of cyclist for that matter) doesn't ride anything that didn't come from a bike shop.

The best toy store bike you can get doesn't even approach the level of quality of a cheap bike shop bike.

I ride a Specialized Hardrock AI Comp FS. I've upgraded it a lot, but it's getting pretty old ('99) and too small for me.

Sure it may not even come close to the strength and quality of a real mountain bike, but I can still have the same amount of fun.

If it breaks, then I could probably buy several more bikes for the price of a real mountain bike.

I don't even think my car is worth the price of my bike, but hey it gets me from point A to point B! :ahh:

Willing to challenge anyone on the mountain, as long as they come to North Eastern PA!

Sure, it's cheaper, but the added quality and support you'll receiver from a bike shop are worth the extra price, if you're anything but a casual rider.

Bring it Bradley. :p
I ride a Haro VGF V-2
I do constant 20-30 mile trips throughout the summer with the occasional 50 miler. Every other summer I do a 210 mile trip on the C and O Canal, I think it is like somewhere in Maryland to Washington DC. Aside from those I take it and ride in a shale pit a half-mile from my house all the time, which is where the real mountain biking takes place.
I lub my bike :D

None taken, i know my bike isn't a real mountain bike, Heck, i was going to shoot some video footage (For editing practice) of me going down a hill that started off with a 6-8" drop off. Well, the drop off had a small cave between the dirt and the sidewalk cement, and i figured i could hide the camera in there to get a cool shot. I decide to try the entry first to be sure i could clear the jump without hitting the camera.

So i got a good start, did the jump, landed it fine.....or so i thought. After i landed i started to head towards a tree that was a few feet from my landing, I hit my breaks and steered from the tree. I ended up hitting a root the jutted out from the side of the tree and Endoed. Funny thing is, i completely cleared the bars, and ended up landing on my feet and slid down a bit before coming to a stop.
Damage to me? None. Damage to my bike? i tacoed my rear wheel, and ended up breaking my rear derailleur.
