Approaches, Episode 3 does

There is no emotion; there is peace.
There is no ignorance; there is knowledge.
There is no passion; there is serenity.
There is no death; there is the Force
There is no line; there is Fandango.

Just bought 8 tickets for me and a couple of team mates for the 12:01 am showing of Episode 3 on May 19th. Any other uber geeks out there flocking to buy the tickets now? Or are some of you heading out the door now to tailgate the movie?

And most importantly- what color lightsaber?

P.S. - Big Mike is the king of Star Wars. Down to the smallest details, he will pwn your socks.

I don't see instant viewing happening for me, since that's the week before finals, though I definitly plan to see it as soon as possible.

Nice thread :)

The hardest part is trying to explain to teachers why you won't be in the next day.

They weren't too fond of the "researching cloning techniques" excuse I used last time.

And why is there no alabaster lightsaber?

You're lucky I didn't give the options of different lightsaber designs. We spent 2 hours coming up with unique designs on the way home from South Carolina.

Re: Approaches, Episode 3 does

Or you could just buy Jedi Academy since they have several types avaiable to use in the game :p

Anyhoo, I plan to go see it ASAP. Nothing better than seeing the final chapter of a great series (even though it really isn't the final chapter >_>)

Re: Approaches, Episode 3 does

Definitely going to see it the first weekend. :)

Now an interesting concept for you to chew on. In theory since a lightsaber is energy, the color you see is just the wavelength of light given off by the blade, well if you're a creature that can see infrared/ultraviolet (can't think of any right now), then why not use a crystal that focuses it into one of those colors. Human's can't see where it is, but you can fine!

I work in a toy store. We sell Legos.

The Starwars ep3 Legos are by far the best selling line we've ever had. Not only do the kits feature really cool vehicles (the arc starfighter is so spiffy) they use a large percentage of traditional bricks. The Harry potter series has always used very specialized bricks that cut down on the build time, but also cut down on the creativity and fun. All the Jedi have lightup lighsabers! I'm thrilled to see that Lego has teamed up with Starwars again to make some really cool toys.

If Lego sales are any indication of a movies success (they are), we are in for a very good movie.

You guys see the Lego Star Wars Video Game? I bought it for my baby cousin for his birthday. His three most favorite things on earth are Star Wars, Xbox, and Legos, so the gift choice was natural. I give the game an A for creativity and an A + just for sheer cuteness.

I haven't yet purchased my tickets, but i am however definately excited, i have been for a long time now. And it doesn't help to work at target, with all the exclusive star wars merchandise they are selling.

They may be just rumors, but some NY movie theatres are saying they are sold out for the entire first day already.

Hey guys- what character are you most looking forward to? The dramatic revealing of Darth Sidius? Darth Vader masked? General Grievous (who has my vote after seeing him in the Clone Wars Mini-series)? His really cool bodyguards? The entrance of the Death Star? Chewbacca? Baby Luke?

Just got done watching all the episodes of the great Clone Wars series on Cartoon Network. I certainly hope the movie can match up to the macro series. So far it's getting alot of great reviews on RT

Someone asked me why I bought 8 tickets ahead of time, own the micro series of Clone Wars, and know so much about Star Wars (but a fraction of that of my team mates.) Strangely, they couldn't answer my question of why they watched 8 hours of pregame for a 1 hour football game with 3 hours of commercials.

The only one I'd ask is why'd you buy the macro series when you could've easily recorded it all on tape tonight for free.

My VCR records in black and white. Occasionally, through the moments of pure luck, the black pictures with CC text covering the neccessary details is joined by the brilliance that is audio.

Now??? Dude, I got my ticket a month ago ;)

*sigh* A friend of mine came back from film school in LA... He then told me his friend's mom, president of CNN Entertainment in LA, offered him an Episode III prescreening ticket but he had to decline cause he wanted to come back to Ithaca... FOOL! :(

I'm psyched. This had better not be a disappointment. If anything, the Yoda fight scene and seeing Anakin without arms & legs should make up for any shortfalls.

I just purchased my pre-sale ticket today, I've been procrastinating on everything. I am not sure if they were available before I left for ISEF.

My team is having a huge night meeting the night following- and considering that everyone that is going is a member of my team, it's going to be a LONG meeting, or a very short nap.

Re: Approaches, Episode 3 does

I'm not a big fan of movie theaters, and I haven't been to a theater in a very long time (I think the last time I saw a movie in a theater was The Lion King many moons ago; I am going to see Serenity in September however), so I'll be waiting for the DVD release. None of you better spoil the ending! :D

Weather or not I'll like it is another story. There seem to be two parties when it comes to the prequels; you hate them, or you love them (it's the same with Enterprise). I hated Phantom Menace, but I enjoyed AotC. I've heard preliminary reviews that this one is much deeper than the first two, so I'm hoping that's true. Or, we could all be getting our hopes up and contributing to the George Lucas retirement fund for a movie worse than Phantom Menace. Time will tell. I should also put out another vote for the Clone Wars series. If you haven't seen it, you're missing out.

Oh, and a light-staff, one half light orange, the other half lime green. :p Nobody can stop the "extremely visible, stick out like a sore thumb target" warrior!

Re: Approaches, Episode 3 does

I work at a movie theater, and yes the midnight show is already sold out. In fact of our 10 screens we are showing Episode III on 4 of them. We are also sold out for most of the day.

When am I seeing it? Either right before the midnight showing...you know testing the film to make sure it runs correctly. If not my manager is letting me bring friends to see it with me and a special "staff screening"...who am I brining? Why Sara and Mike from 303 of course!

My vote has to go for the green lightsaber, what am I looking forward to? The lightsaber battles it is. Those are going to be SICK!

Well I'm off to play KOTOR 2 May the force be with you.

Re: Approaches, Episode 3 does

I'm not going to rush to the theatres to see it, I'll probably see it sometime next week at a matinée showing...or whenever my friends go to see it...whichever comes first. =P

The other day I was watching TRL and they were at Lucas Ranch, which is in the bay area (w00t for CA), and the crowd there got to see Episode III from George Lucas' private screening room. :ahh:
Lucky Duckies!

Edit: Definitely the purple light sabre! Doesn't Samuel L. Jackson's character have the purple one? Always go with purple. ;)

My math teacher enjoys posting "quotes of the week" on the board. I really enjoyed this weeks

"Wookies make any movie better"

I forgot who said it but I almost fell over laughing.

yeah not going to the midnight showing but will be there at the movies right after school. The only thing I stayed up all night for was Halo 2 and got my two copies and ran home and didn't stop playing with my friends fr what seemed like two days. We came back to school the next day and our teachers knew exactly what we were missing for and some of my friends who were there at school on Nov. 9th said that half the school was gone. I am expecting maybe one eight of our school to be missing on thursday. :)

DIE HONORS SEMINAR, DIE!!!!!
i got my tickets like 3 1/2 weeks ago and i was going to go with two really good friends after school on thursday and we were so excited!!!
and then the lit teacher decided to have the honors seminar on thursday....and what else is there to say? she refused to reschedule (she said 'this will prove your dedication as a student') and so i can't go because if i have cruddy grades, i at least need the honors designation ;)
funny, the book we had to read was 'the hot zone', its about ebola...maybe if she gets ebola, we wont have a seminar!!!! one can only hope....maybe i can build an ebola-spreading robot in the next 12 hours, it would be like FIRST, only condensed! but in an evil way....yeah im done now

Don't read this thread.

Don't google for reviews.

Don't go to movie sites.

Etc. etc.

The internet won't provide spoilers unless you go looking for them. But be wary of your friends who went to the 12am showing! :)

Re: Approaches, Episode 3 does

Well I was SUPPOSED to go to the midnight show, but due to overcrowding of theaters and massive customer problems I was working until 1:30 am. Therefor missing half of the movie, so I'm going to see it sometime tomorrow.

Oh well...now to go cry myself to sleep.

Keith Chester 19-05-2005 02:52

I am proud to announce that I left the theatre with an ear to ear grin.

Now, 2 hours of sleep, school, a showing, and a long parents robotics meeting.

Such is the life of the geek.

Use this thread for thoughts and reviews of the movies. INCLUDE *SPOILER WARNINGS* TO THE LESS LUCKY THAT HAVE TO WAIT TO SEE IT.

I'm a Physics/Chemistry teacher and I totally understand why some would have to miss school to see the movie. I remember wanting to miss school to see the original when I was a kid. I even skipped eating lunch and saved my lunch money for a while to see it with my buddy Ralph. ( I think it was $3.25 for a feature presentation ) 25 odd years ago.
