2005 Website Excellence Award

Congratulations to all the teams that won the regional Website Awards and to 1540 for the Championship Website Award.
I like any team that get a 2005 Website Excellence Award to put a link in this thread. Time to show them off. :)

I am still not sure if my team won it. I heard from somoene that they are behind in announcing the website excellence award winners so maybe soon they will be announced.

I gave Jon the unofficial announcement, since it's still unofficial in my book.

I had emailed FIRST regarding our teams website judging raw scores so we could see what we need to improve, and I got the scores back from Susan Robinson (who had to get them from someone else, not at FIRST). It showed that we got a 79 at Central Florida and an 82 at Palmetto. I asked if that meant we earned the award (80% is the requirement), she said yes.

Susan said she was handed the program late in the season and they were running behind in getting out the awards. She also had some hand surgery scheduled (please wish her the best) so it may be a week or two.

Re: 2005 Website Excellence Award

Thankyou for those kind words John, and all of you who have been supportive of our team and our web department. (I am really not the person to be posting this, but i found it first) The real person who deserves so many congratulations is out tireless Software/web manager, Joe, who hand coded the entire site. Sam, our graphic artist, and Cindy, our web mentor, and everyone else who contributed also deserve huge amounts of praise.

I would also like to announce our new domain name: Team1540.org!

Oh my gosh! Congrats! I was looking at your website the other day for some reason or another (don't remember why) and it was so cool! I was trying to figure out how to do half of the things that you did and all of a sudden DJ told me that I don't know the language that your site is written in, that I only know basic HTML, but back to the point that your site is beautiful !

To get our team scores I used the contact number on the website - frcteams@usfirst.org - and got a response back from Susan Robinson [srobinson@usfirst.org] who is the website award coordinator.

I have asked this question before but havn't got any answer yet ...
I'm seeing people on other website putting their certificates for the regionals on the their website ... can anybody tell me how they got it?? because I haven't received anything on my email yet!

robot180 14-05-2005 17:58

Re: 2005 Website Excellence Award

My team received the website excellence logo in an email sent to the email account that I believe is listed with FIRST as like an official team email address. The person who checks it then forwarded it to me so I could post it on the site. If you didn't get the email, make sure they have a valid email address for your team and if so, maybe you did not win the award. You could check with the person who Gary mentioned earlier in this thread.

Just looked at the source, you seem to have 2 html/head/title/doctypes/etc. I'm assuming this is because your using the php include() and on the included file it also has the header stuff. Nothing harmful to functionality, but if your going for standardization I'd fix it. Otherwise, nice site. I like the history collage kinda thing.

I had that problem also. I realized it when I was bored and wanted to see what the code looked like in the source sent to the browser. I realized there was no doctype, opening html, opening head, or title tag. That happened because I was including the rest of the page, but to fix another problem, I changed it to a redirect page.
