Wow. I seriously just fell out of my chair laughing. North Brunswick is number 754 on the list. I honestly never thought we would have a chance of being up there. Although it is all starting to make sense now. Our teachers have always told us of our high Standardized test scores, AP test scores, and SAT scores. So its all starting to connect together.

It has nothing to do with the actual scores, it is only how many AP and IB tests per student.

Ah. Well then it still makes some sense. We have to use our brand new gigantic library to fit all the students for each test, so it still fits together.

Nope Las Guerrillas(469) at number 2. They were number 1 and the team was featured in the article.

I have to admit, I was a little surprised not to see two schools from Baltimore on the list: Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and Western High School.

Poly is an engineering school, their Class of 2004 average combined SAT score — 1040 (the National combined SAT score was 1026). 95% of their students go onto higher education, they started out as an all male public school but are now 57% male, 43% female (they do not have a robot team).

Western is the high school I went to. It is still an all girl public school, though some classes are now co-ed. They had a college placement of 100% last school year. They do participate in the MESA program, which is a special pre-college program at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. They do not have a robot team.

If you go back a page they have 1,200 schools listed.
It would be cool to figure out how many are in FIRST.
I know in 2004 when they did the countdown LAs Guerilla's championship winning robotics team was the leading picture to the story. Pretty cool it was.

I wonder how many of those schools are involved with FIRST?
Wilson Magnet is #27.

You might want to read this article in the New York Times about the methodology Newsweek used. If the Times is correct, the ranking is useless as a measure of "best schools." YMMV.
