Resolution, part II.

We did this poll a few years ago, but things change.

So .. what resolution do you primarily browse ChiefDelphi using?

I'll keep this open for 2 weeks and we'll see.

My resolution is set to 1280x1024, but I don't have Opera full screened. Opera is maybe 1024x768. Is there a way of checking what size your windows are?

From Brandon's suggestion: 1046x861, I was close.

You could take a screenshot and measure it in photoshop or some other graphics editing program.

I don't full screen anything but iTunes, Napster or movies, but that is on the second monitor.

1480 x 1112 is the pefect resolution for 19" CRTs, kids.

Brandon, I think the new look is very nice, but I'm sure there are quite a few people in 800 x 600 cursing at you at this very moment. To put this issue to rest scientifically, perhaps you could set something up to automagically log resolutions for a week to fulfill CD census purposes. There's probably a better way to do this but off the top of my head, you can detect resolutions with Javascript right? So then with Javascript, you could set a cookie on the Portal page whose value corresponds to that resolution, which you can then use a PHP script to read and log somewhere. That way, you'll get a very good reading of what people are looking at CD with. Of course, that's probably a lot of work and I wouldn't do it... but it would probably take you like two seconds to whip up. Just an idea.

Sounds like a lot of work...for what?

I still don't understand the reason to goto a fixed size. I keep having to make the browser bigger than I would like it. :(

If your doing this for stats, then I'm pretty sure nearly all web stats programs have resolution size...

I'm at 1400x1050 also.

I don't like the new fixed style. I'd rather have it adjust to the size of my monitor.

What was the reasoning behind moving to a fixed width? Seems like it won't do much good for anyone and annoy some.
