After reading the newspaper this morning, I noticed something that was definitely gracious professionalism. In order to help the American automakers, especially GM and Ford who are now considered 'junk' status, Toyota executives are now urging other Japanese automakers to raise prices to help GM and Ford get back on track. After seeing the "cooperating in technology" as well, I knew this was GP.

It's cool to see gracious professionalism outside of FIRST! :p

Or... it's them wanting to turn more of a profit. Increased prices=Increased revenue.

Or both?

what if the GP is just a front for increasing revenue?
What if increased revenue is just a bonus of being GP?

does it matter?

yes it matters

boasting or gloating is not GP

and insincerity is not GP

BTW, the last 5 cars I bought were all made by GM, and none of them say 'junk' on the title. (four Saturns and a Fiero)

in fact, I have no complaints about any of them

Would you mind linking the whole article, it'd be a bit easier to tell.

The price increase was in response to GM and Ford bonds being reduced to junk bond status, rather then their cars being junk.

I like my Isuzu built GM-branded Storm. :)

I agree that it matters.
Here is what I think is the whole article (couldn't find it on BW)
http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servl...tory/Business/
based on that article, it seems that the prices are being raised to alleviate stress. I don't think increased revenue is that big of an issue here. What I think determines whether or not it is GP, comes down to whether help is being given purely for the sake of competition, or if help is being offered to prevent backlash, like the article mentions. If it is to prevent backlash, it becomes an issue of insincerity, which, as Ken mentioned, is not GP.

Just some things to consider
