openFIRST would <3 more volunteers...

Looking for an interesting project?
Want to help out other teams?
Have a big idea?
Need a challenge?

Consider volunteering to help with the openFIRST project. We're always looking for new people with bright ideas. We're currently in the process of revamping the code for a major release, and we'd like some help. There's a variety of jobs for a variety of skill levels and talent sets. If you're up for it, or know someone who is, take a look at http://www.openfirst.org/

Also, if you have any interesting web application that you'd like to see spread around the FIRST world, contact me for some information about how to get your project functioning as a 3rd party openFIRST module (or if you're up to it about how to do a full fledged import into the main code base).

Contact me (or reply here) for more details. Also, we're taking suggestions here (or on the openFIRST Bugzilla site at http://bugzilla.openfirst.org).

If you were to try and access the Bugzilla site earlier today you may have noticed it was down and/or behaving oddly; this was due to significant upgrades to the version of Bugzilla installed that had some unexpected consequences for the templates in use. They have been resolved, and I think you'll find the new Bugzilla version is both prettier and easier to use than the old one.

In the near future (as in, when most of you high school students have finished your exams and are on your summer break) we're going to be looking for someone to update the documentation in the manual module. Basically, what's happening is that the next version to be released will have very significant changes and most of that manual as written will put out of date by them, so we're going to require a new one.

The current manual is at http://www.openfirst.org/doc/manual/ (and alternatively is in CVS as the "manual" module). So, any high school student who's in a position to help, that would be appreciated. At the moment the design changes haven't been finalised, so, even if you wanted you couldn't really start on the manual for a while anyway.
