Re: E3

If I have a clear day this weekend (doubtful though because we may be traveling down to San Diego), I may end up going. I have never gone, but this year looks to be pretty exciting. School gets out early on Friday, so maybe I can convince my parents to give me a ride there.

I'm not really paying attention to much except for X-Box 360 and a possible announcement about Halo 2.5 (i.e. features, screenies, etc.).

Re: E3

I fogot to ask if our company is going to have someone there?

we finally got our production up to where we have a few units left in inventory at the end of the week, but one good hit of advertisement would reverse that and put us into back-order mode again.

Im the project engineer for the V920 and M920 (our commercial products) - this is our website: www.icuiti.com

the LCDs we use are 640x480, which makes them perfect for watching videos, or for any game system designed for a standard TV monitor

Oh my god, the PS3 is the uglies thing in the world...

but the specs are amazing!

Conor Ryan 16-05-2005 22:20

Re: E3

yeah its ugly, heres a picture

Specs are good too, but its going to be the Game Developers that will make the difference. The hardware on both platforms are sooo advanced.

Well, that is the FINAL design, that's what they showed at the press conference yesterday. Now, the Revolution, well, from the USA Today picture, it looks really sexy!

Re: E3

The problem with nintendo right now is 1. they need hardware that can seriously compete with the other systems, especially the new ones. And 2 they need to win a bunch of old fans back, they can do it but its gonna take some great games to do it.

And yes PC > All

But from the preview its looking like the consoles are the ones to look at, my early prediction from the console winner is Xbox 360, one because of the 512 ram vs the 256, but because they seem to have one the fans over faster. But PS3 which finally has 4 controller ports will be a good competitior. But prices above all, will probably rule the winner out.

I think X-Box 360 will eventually win overall, but for different reasons. Halo already has a loyal following and will bring PS and NGC users to microsoft. In addition, it appears that X-Box 360 will be here in time for the holidays while Revolution and PS3 will not be out until next year. PS2, in my opinion, won the last round because they used their extra year to build a superior game library.

Re: E3

New GameBoy (size of iPod mini), The Legend of Zelda: The Dark Princess (why must they give the biggest kick-butt game a whimpy title?), Revolution will be able to download NES, SNES, and N64 titles to play on the machine (will include emulators), free internet play on Revolution, etc.

I think my roomate and I will get a 360 and a Revolution.

Nah

XBOX 360 > PC

When your PC has 3 processors running at 3.2ghz each then it might be better. Also it's weird that XBOX has Nintendo's Perfect Dark and Playstation's Final Fantasy series now too...

No its XBox 360 PC

If you custom build PCs you'll almost always have a better system. And the Games are all out there too, as well as a massive online community

Build me one for under $500 w/ Windows XP Media Center Edition and specs similar to the XBOX 360 and I'll buy it.

:D

i do agree - sony won because it was a year ahead for two consecutive generations (if you exclude sega)

one thing that i think will make a huge difference for nintendo is this:

The console also will have downloadable access to 20 years of fan-favorite titles originally released for Nintendo 64, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and even the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES).

i have all the old systems, and i'm still excited about that.

Re: E3

Nintendo just released some preliminary info on the revolution, including...

There are 2 more absolutely beautiful pics and specs in this this nintendo article
Must not forget to mention the next shrinking experiment to the GBA...

Looks like us SP owners need to think of what to trade for it at a local GameStop. That is, when it ships.
Nintendo has a lot to gain this year, and they shall not lose.

[Edit] The revolution looks like a CD-ROM Drive that I could stick into a computer. I wonder if it will be possible. [/Edit]

Seriously, I wanna marry the Revolution!

That's it, 360 and Revolution for me! I really like the idea of downloading the past 20 years of Nintendo home system games for play!

Multiple processors aren't very useful for PC games. They're better for almost everything else though.

The bottleneck on a PC is the RAM and graphics card. RAM is not a problem if you buy enough. More advanced graphics cards are coming out practically monthly.

I stand by my original statement, consoles will never overtake PC's, which are a much better value due to functionality other than games.

P.S. Xbox360 won't be media center enabled. It will only allow you to hook a media center PC up to it :)

also, you need a TV that supports 720p 1080i resolution to take full advantage of the graphics. Im willing to bet a significant number of potential owners don't, and aren't willing to shell out for a TV and Xbox for their kid's Christmas gift.

Also, the technology in the console is what is available at the time of starting the project, in a pc you can update and improve whenever...
Also the main bottleneck is actually the speed of the hard drive in many cases.....

Re: E3

I read a a while ago that there are no longer going to be booth babes at E3. This will probably improve the show's reputation (in respectability), but it will leave some disappointed. It will elevate the show above the atmosphere found in a car show.
